i was woundering if anyone knows any rugh limit of safe voltage and heat on the fx 4170 , iv had it up to 1.6500 v at 5ghz at 60c it seems to throtle at 60c ,i run it a 1.575 v 4.7 ghz 24/7 hits 50c at heavy loade .

CPU:FX 4170  OC @4.7Ghz MB:ASRock 990Fx Extreme3 RAM:12Gb ddr3 1333 Team and some random ram GPU:2 HD 6970 OC 950 MHz in crossfire Case:Coolermaster 430 elite and all the geto water cooling

any voltage is safe as long as the VRM temps are ok and the CPU temps are fine.

though 1.65v is some srs voltage there.

ok so i will have to route a temp probe thare i dont get a reading for vrm in sofware, vrm usealy good for 110c right so keep it at  80c ish

1.500 Volts or under for 24/7 use. If you have a good motherboard with good power and VRM cooling then you can go alittle higher. 1.55 volt is the recommended maximum for any sustained use but it may degrade the chip over time and could eventually kill it.
