I like that this review came out two years after you bought it, gave time to any underlying problems that may have become apparent. 

 

Well I never reviewed it at the time, and there is tons of maligned comments about alienware so I figured an owners perspective would help people

 

its still a beast, the cards in there can still max out MOST (not all) current games just fine at 1080p

 

also HDMI IN- amazing, great for taking on holiday, means I basically have a portable 18.4" monitor/TV , can take my desktop and alienware to a LAN, and I have 2 PCs, using my m18x as a screen

It beats my desktop (one measly 660), has to be worth something ;)

 

Does seem quite bulky for holidays though. Suppose if it stays in ones accomodation it wouldn't be much of a problem. More of a stay-at-home laptop id imagine?

its a stay at home laptop for sure, though i have taken it when travelling for long periods

 

I also have an 11.6" laptop for taking in a bag

 

hoping to sell both in the next few months, and get a 13-15" portable machine with 970m/980m

I actually really like the keyboard on the one that I played with at Best Buy. The keys were the perfect amount of mushy (same for the trackpad keys on the ASUS laptop).

yeah Alienware keyboards are really nice!! I wouldnt even care about mechanical like the GT80

although not all of them are bad
