,Okay, so what happened was my dad said he accidentally clicked on "refresh" in Control Panel... I'm not sure about this, maybe he meant restore. But the  issue is that working files of my dad's software went missing, and it went back to day one like asking us to purchase a license again. Also, programs like Microsoft Office was missing as well. Is there a way to revert back to the system's state BEFORE this accident, so the missing files would still be there?

THanks for you guys' help.

Yup what he has done there is when Windows fails to start or you press some keys during boot Windows will go into the Advanced Boot Menu and it will then show things like:

safe mode, refresh, restore, system restore, command prompt, Automatic startup Repair.

If he happened to click Refresh like he said Windows will basically reinstall a brand new image of windows. Removing everything that was installed by a user or didint come pre-installed with windows. Unfortunately you are now out of luck i am afraid as it cannot be reversed :(
