Hey people-i was curious if pci gen 2 16x could bottleneck a 770 and if not why was gen 3 even released?

A GTX 770 will not bottleneck with PCIe 2.0 16x. We are just coming to the point where we are beginning to saturate the bus with single GPU cards.

if you are just running one gpu

 

no worries of bottleneck

 

the reason for gen 3.0 to exist was because of multi gpu setups

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

PCI-E gen 4 will have double the bandwidth of Gen 3.0
