I bought an Asus PC from my non PC building days (Only about a year ago). It preforms well and the temperatures are fine its the noise that gets me. Its really really loud. I clean it out regularly as it gets super dusty due to poor ventilation. It currently has a pretty terrible stock CPU cooler and 1 120mm fan. There are two fan spots that can have either 120mm or 140mm.

My goal is to make it a lot quieter which i can t imagine will be too hard. I just want to know what CPU cooler you recommend and fans. I'm not looking to spend too much money so it would be good if it came to under £50. I also don't really want a heat sink or water cooling as my case probably isn't compatible.

Thanks Gavin

A more expensive, probably quiter option is the Noctua nh-d14, which already comes with amazing fans. A cheaper option would be the cooler master hyper 212, which also performs really well.

They both seem really big. Are there any good quiet cooler fans that dont come with the big head sink?

I agree, a Noctua nh-d14 will suit you fine for super quiet-ness. i'd say add at least another case fan if there's room for one, as that'll prevent your CPU heatsink from ramping up as much at load.

The nh-d14 looks to be about 65 pounds on amazon, but there's another, smaller noctua cooler for 45, the nh-u9b, HERE

You could also take a look at a BeQuiet! solution, something like this Shadow Rock for 38 pounds or the Dark Rock 2 for 51.

*EDIT: the Shadow Rock is much smaller than the Dark Rock 2, but you could also take a look at the Thermalrite AXP 100, which is more low profile. you can also pop some quieter fans on it if you like too

Cooling is really based on the heatsink size, and essentially more area equals more cooling. Do you care abut size with height or length? You could get low profile coolers, but as stated before, a larger CPU cooler means lower temps, and would be quieter with a larger fan.

+1 Good choices.

Is this the real life? Or is this just fantasy?

The Noctua NH-D14 or the Hyper 212 Evo are good choices. If you want a low profile cooler, I would go with the Cooler Master GeminII SF524 or the NH-C14.
