Formatted wrong partition on accident

Juggernautilus
Go to solution Solved by PathfinderNC,

Undelete360 may work as well if it's on a hard disk. I've used it in the past, before.

So I formatted wrong partition that I had all the important files on (pictures, documents). Is there any chance I can recover the files on my own? If yes, then how?

Well dont do anything silly like try to write data over it again or else it will be lost for good. I suggest you find some free file recovery software such as Recuvia and give that a shot on the deleted partition.

Urgh, I doubt you can save it but yes, you can try racuvia and try to bring it to a local specialist if that fails.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*

Formatting the drive doesn't securely erase the data so you may be able to recover your files

I forgot to mention that I deleted 2 out of 3 partitions and merged them together. Are they still recoverable?

OMG YES.

Most of the files were overwritten by windows but I got the most important documents out. I am so fucking happy right now!!
