Skylake Processors

Go to solution Solved by Enderman,

when will be seeing 10 core even 12 core processors

No idea, but definitely not in the next 3 years. (if you mean gaming processors)

There already are xeons with 12 or 16 cores but those are mostly for servers/workstations

I think it is the Haswell-E chips that will have an 8 core 16 thread extreme edition. This will be far more than enough for any extreme gaming and editing PC.

This thread is kind of calling for a lmgtfy (let me google that for you). Unless you have some specific questions, you can't just come here and expect people to write you a wikipedia page with all the information. Do your research and if you have doubts feel free to come here and ask us, but we don't just happen to know everything you could possibly want to know on a subject. Either way everything currently known about skylake is rumours and speculation, so you are not going to find accurate informations anyway.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

I have read evreything I was hoping feel free to ask because I have a couple of questions

1. How many cores will they have/utilize

2. Will there be a x series and will it be worth getting over normal chips

3. What cache are we expecting(size)

1) anywhere from 2 to 8 depending which processor

2) there is always an x series, (x99 in the future) and no it is totally not worth it for gaming

3) the same as now or a couple mb more

PS if you have read everything, how can we possibly know more than you already do?

NEW PC build: Blank Heaven   minimalist white and black PC     Old S340 build log "White Heaven"        The "LIGHTCANON" flashlight build log        Project AntiRoll (prototype)        Custom speaker project

Spoiler

Ryzen 3950X | AMD Vega Frontier Edition | ASUS X570 Pro WS | Corsair Vengeance LPX 64GB | NZXT H500 | Seasonic Prime Fanless TX-700 | Custom loop | Coolermaster SK630 White | Logitech MX Master 2S | Samsung 980 Pro 1TB + 970 Pro 512GB | Samsung 58" 4k TV | Scarlett 2i4 | 2x AT2020

Why didn't you post this in the first place?

1. Probably still 4 cores with 8 threads for top end consumer i7's (although it's possible they will have 6 cores and 12 threads)

2. Yes, I see no reason why there shouldn't be one, but it will probably still be haswell-E or broadwell-E, skylake-E will probably come quite a bit later. As with today's extreme line, they are only worth the extra money if you really need the extra performance or bandwidth, and it's up to you to decide if you do.

3. Probably 8MB L3 again, but it might be 10.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨
