Random Gigantic RAM Usage?

Hey guys, so my dads PC has 8GB of RAM. He doesn't really do anything expect play a few games and use phtoshop etc. However when he tried to play BF3 today the game was unplayable and lagging like no tomorrow. I check video settings, resolution, and not even all low with 800x600 got rid of the lag. So I checked task manager, CPU usage was about 50% but RAM usage was 5.9GB! If I play BF3 on my PC I use 2.2 Max. That's it. So I'm really confused, one of the scvhost (I think that's what the processes are called) was 276Kkb. So what could be causing this?

CPU: AMD A6 5400K APU @ 3.6GHz

RAM: 8GB 1333Mhz DDR3

PSU: 450W something (No idea what the brand is there is no sticker.)

Cooler: Stock

GPU: Nvidia 750ti

it sounds like you have some type of virus running in the background. Google these two programs rkill and Hitman Pro. Rkill will stop Any running process that shouldn't be running and HitmanPro will pretty much remove anything that shouldn't be there
