i have a asrock z68 xtreme3 gen3 and built my girlfriend with a z77 pro3. On my z68 board the audio manager has an equalizer and effect, while the z77 has none but has a THX audio software that enhance the sound quality but no effect. They both have 892 codec. I know there are lots of high end motherboard nowadays that comes with very nice built-in audio. But how can you say if the motherboard has a realtek audio manager with/without equalizer/effects?

You used a z77 to build your girlfriend...??

Joking aside, I don't think there's a way to tell what kind of audio manager you'd get with your onboard, prior to actually buying and installing it. Maybe try googling, maybe some people have screencaps of the audio managers that came with their boards.

Back to your issue, maybe try going to the manufacturer's website, and try to download the latest audio drivers. Drivers that came with the installation CDs are often outdated. If that failed, and you're sure the 2 boards is using the same chip, you could try using your mobo's CD to install the audio manager in her PC.

What creatip123 said,  and if that doesn't get you the e.q then you can try going to the realtek site and download the generic management/driver software for your particular chip.

http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=24&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

you'll have to agree to the terms and conditions to download the drivers.
