Hey everyone,

My friend from university needs a list of parts for his own build. I'm just helping him along the process and decided to take it to the forums since many of the members are smarter than me and can help with this :D

Budget: $1000-$1100 max (Prices in Canadian dollars please). Living in the GTA (Ontario, Canada).

My friend wants the computer to be able to play AAA games as well as some autocad work for school. He needs a single monitor to go with it (I honestly do not know which monitor to choose) and make sure to keep it in the price range. Peripherals are not needed in the build. Also, an OS is not needed as well. The smaller the form factor the better, just so he can move it easier but this is optional.

Thanks for the input/help!!!

My build: i5 3570k , Sabertooth Z77, Be quiet Dark Rock 2, Corsair vengeance 16 gb ram, Corsair RM 750, WD Black 1TB , ADATA 256 GB SSD, Asus 660ti DCUII, NZXT H440, Noctua NF-F12 & NF-A14.

I would love to change the world, but they won't give me the source code.

I don't have too much experience choosing parts for low budget builds, so hopefully someone else on the forum can tweak this build a little to cut down some costs :)

If not, then try this. Er... 16GB of RAM would be beneficial in AutoCAD, right?

Edit: Xeons are useful with AutoCAD, right? Yeah, that's my problem there: I don't know what would be beneficial for AutoCAD.

Yeah I am also confused which parts benefit AutoCad. This is the reason why I took this to the forums. :P

Im still figuring this stuff out for myself so yeah.

Thanks for the build Orange!!!! :D

No problem. I remember a thread talking about AutoCAD, but I think it was mainly on Nvidia vs AMD since Nvidia has CUDA which in theory if AutoCAD benefits from CUDA would be the main advantage, however, if it's just a slight advantage like 2 to 10 secs being faster, then I don't think it's worth it.
