Yesterday I bought Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and I suck at the game. I've had to entirely relearn how to play an FPS game and my BF skills don't seem to cut it. Are there any great tips that you guys have that will make me a 1337 pro one shot deagle 420 smoke kush everyday csgo player?

people always recommend playing a lot of Deathmatch to improve your aim.

I'm fairly new to the game too and i really like watching "pro" players. You could look into Summit1g on Twtich, he's streaming every night. Also there are some Pro League games being shown on twitch which also might be very helpful

Death match to me doesnt improve aim. Its more like crosshair placement.

few things you need to know

Learn the maps

You need to know how fast you can get from spot 1 to spot 2, corners to peak from and where the enemy could be peaking from. Without this you are pretty much useless in the game since you can't assume where the enemy will be and if you can kill him.

Aiming

As said above, play a lot of DM. Even pro players do it before playing competitive games. You need to learn the spray patterns of the most popular weapons so you don't shoot at legs while the enemy one shots you. Also, never run and shoot at the same time.

Nades, smokes and flashes

Use them! They are purchasable for a reason. Molotovs to stop stacked rushes or burn out a CT camper on a map like inferno. Smokes to block the vision of a path so the enemy doesn't know your spot when he runs through and flashbangs to either retake a site or flash Ts trying to get to a site to gain more time.

Play for objectives not kills

This is really important as you gain points for rounds not for your frags. Sometimes it's better to save your weapon or just plant the bomb instead of taking a frag because it gives $800 to every member of your team.

Communicate with your teammates

Even if they are angry and yell at you, still tell them the information you have about the enemy or where you are at. It helps a lot. If you aren't willing to talk over voice chat, you won't have big success in competitive mode.

That's just little tips of top of my head. You can also watch Dreamhack Summer tournament that is streamed on twitch right now as the casters say a lot of useful things about the game and the mindset for teams.

Sorry for my english if you don't understand something

Ok so how do I engage people? Do I crouch in the middle of the corridor and start shooting the person or do I find a wall to peak out of (I know that sounds stupid to even think to stop in the open but some people kill very quickly)? When I am using the AK47 do I hold down the LMB and hope to kill or do I tap fire or do I burst? Whenever I shoot an M4A4 at a person 3 meters ahead of me and hold down the trigger only 2 bullets hit.

Basically from short distances you either want to headshot or spray if you can't control recoil or there are multiple targets. You need to learn the spray pattern to spray accurately.

From bigger distances you want to strafe and shoot 2-3 bullets inbetween. Sometimes it's ok to crouch if you commit to pray from medium distances because most of the times enemies will aim at your head, but most of the times you shouldn't crouch at all.

This video explains it very well.

hope it helps

I suggest watching dreamhack. The last game of the day is on now http://www.twitch.tv/dreamhackcs and playoffs tomorrow. It really helps watching pro games from their POV
