Been playing with the mod for ~2 hours.  I can't say the results are as explosive as the Internet has made it seem, but I've noticed some improvement (mainly less driving stutters, minor lighting).  Sure beats what Ubisoft has provided so far!  I'm only running it on High with MSAA x4 though.

Then go turn off the AA and go up to ultra to see all the effects that are in the game. Then tell us how different it looks.

No offence to you you choice in settings but don't say that it doesn't make a big difference if you don't turn all the effects up to ultra.

I wanna see a comparison with the mod at the theatre and the e3 2012 demo.

My breaks in a hour can't wait to see the difference, and supposedly it's huge!

Can't do Ultra at all I'm afraid, not without serious frequent drops and my framerate already isn't that great on High (20-50, avg 30).

that video was very rushed :L. he could have done a side by side comparision to start with, then move on and described what he saw and what the noticeable differences were :) would have helped the video a lot

This is just said in my opinion. Why would a company do this? I feel like they were payed off to do this, so the consoles did not look week compared to a PC

because it is all PR and that fact that console babies would cry if they saw that PC was better and they were not getting what we got. It's just a game of cat and mouse if they don't want to give it to us we will just find it and get it for our selves simples. PC MASTER RACE !

This is just beyond my imagination. Ubisoft did this.

If you have seen the demo of Watch Dogs from E3 2012 and 2013, you know that the retail version of the game does NOT look like the demo at all. (aka Ubisoft style). If not, here's the link about the video: htt

ps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_A6Z3gkXlk

But that's old news. Here's the big news:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=838538

On the forum of Neogaf, the author of this threat found the ORIGINAL graphical effects in the game files of the PC version of Watch_Dogs.

The files that were unpacked contained these different things: Bokeh DOF, light effects, Bloom, headlight shadows, etc...

The comments shown on this thread indicate that this is because of ONE reason. To minimize the gap between PS4 and PC. Is this Ubisoft's doing... or is it Sony's doing? Might be a big question. Since the game has been promoted so much, PS4's Watch Dogs would not gain much anticipation if the PC version was as just as they saw in the E3 demo.

Well..., this is just my reasoning. I'm not entirely sure about this all. What do you guys think about this?

Yes this comparison is much better , much much better :). now all we need is one like this with the mod and we are sorted

GTX680 2GB, and already OC.  Alas, that is all it can manage.  The modder did say the effects would appear in High, but I can't say it's a very spectacular change on High.

That XML file was painful to read as a PC enthusiast though.  Half of the quality settings in there are set to "console."  Default render settings were 720p regardless of what your in-game settings are.  Ugh.

i know even in notepad++ my eyes hurt really badly , how ubisoft worked with that i shall never know. Your problem might be the lack of Vram you have :L this game is a whore when it comes to Vram even with 3Gb i don't have enough

ubisoft disabled this code to make the differences between the console versions and pc look minimal. they definitely got a pay check for this, there is no questioning that. but why leave the code in to be enabled? I think they knew someone would figure it out in time and that pc gamers would be able to have the version that was intended for them. there is no other explanation.

That's looking great man but I'll run on the default settings till I get a new GPU

But.. it's a shame ubisoft has removed/changed most of the detailed and diversed models and other assets on the city landscape. But hopefully they'll come back too

indeed. on Ultra i get roughly 20-30fps with 25 as a steady frame which i'm down with that for single player but i do default for multi-player which still looks and runs great

I thought this screen capture of some of the unpacked code from Watch Dogs was pretty priceless:

I think line 51 perfectly captures how Ubisoft, and many other major developers feel about PC. The evidence doesn't get more damning than that.

what i see there is a programer/developer releasing steam for being forced to downgrade a game that he spent years making it look awesome
