MSI Z87-G45 bios update freeze

Hi. I have the board mentioned above and it freezes when I try to update the bios from 1.7 - 1.8 by M-Flash method @ the bios ( using 8GB usb t-drive Fat32 ).

I know that you can flash the bios using their update utility method but it has been known to brick boards. So as much as possible I stay away from updating bios in OS mode.

Any body has same experience with me here?

Is there any other way to update the bios aside from the methods I mentioned earlier?

So far I have updated this mobo for 2 times since purchased using same method and same thumb drive, only this time it failed me.

Have you ever tried to contact msi about this problem?

Bro I just updated my bios today.. You can safely use the Live Update 6 now because they put an option that will allow you to update your bios in DOS mode. Then boot USB @ startup. No hassle

See instructions: http://www.msi.com/page/Live-Update-5-Manual#!mm=about

I tried in OS mode once before on my Z87-GD65 and it semi-bricked, well because it has dual BIOS so I can switch to the 2nd one and recover for the first one. It ain't easy.

So, M-Flash can brick your board as well? Good to know so I should avoid them in the future...

With M-Flash? dun think so. My only issue now when I select the bios file to update - the PC just freezes, then you just have to press the restart button..
