Im thinking the reason why my internet has been so slow and my gaming experience isnt as good as it could be is because of my internet provider. Verizon is my provider and twice this year, they had to come a get me a new router due to malfunctions. Can I get a router such as the Cisco Linksys E4200 v2 and call it a day? Or is there this whole big process in which I have to connect the router to a provider.

What they give you is a modem not a router. Most modems have the same functionality as a router, but routers cannot be used as modems. If you are having issues with your internet you can try upgrading your plan to get more speed, or change ISPs

You got it backwards...

What you listed above is a router, and will not work like the modem from verizon that you currently have.

You would have to connect the router to your modem, not replace the modem. This would not improve anything because the issues you are having are with your modem.

You just have to deal with the verizon modem you have right now, or change to a different ISP.
