hehe. i live on the internet, not just here. i would love a 4960x, but not at the price its at. not many people buy them and most that do are pretty extreme and take them over 5ghz for fun.

I dont have a 4960X but I do have the 3970X at 4.8ghz at 1.3v and since the 4960X is only 4.5 % faster in real world performance, I think i can inlude it into this convo. Honestly you buy these chips just to have them, no other reason then bragging rights of having the highest consumer Intel chip. The price to perfomance does not even come close to justifying the price and performance over the 3930K and the 4930K.

The highest i have ever been able to get my 3970X at, is 5.2Ghz @ 1.450V stable. I ran it for a week being at that, then desided that there really was no need for it and bumped it back down to 4.8Ghz and that's were it has been ever sense. I'm almost positive i could go  higher just have never tried it past 5.2

Thats pretty good :) .. with ok temps and all?  i get 5 ghz at 1.420 volts but i am a bit scared if it will degrade my chip in the long run with a voltage over 1.4..  so i feel safer with 4,8 ghz at 1.360 volts... actually its 1.325 volts in bios but cpuz says 1.360 so the loadline or something is pushing it up a bit i guess..

Yeah my over all temps were @70c at full load. I agree, I felt a little scared about pushing any further. I belive i could with no issues but I'm not willing to take the risk lol
