what do i need to know

okay i have pretty bad internet but thats mainly because my internet provider is horrible but even still the stuff im using for the internet is basically as cheap as you can get but i dont want to do anything as i have no idea what to do or what i should know so anyway could people please put below the basics on what you need to know about networking like modem/router setups and how to change them or set them up, for me and all the other noobs who dont know a thing but want to setup a modem/router setup so yeah anyone knows handy things or things you need to know says them below (that sorta rhymed)

yep i am but thats the whole point i know nothing about router/modem setups and there are probably other people like me and if people could put it here then that would mean that for the most part no one would need to worry cause it would all be here, and because like i say i dont know anything so i couldnt tell if something was right or not and i want to know that i get what i need and i dont miss something or get too much and waste des moneys and that i setup the stuff right cause then i wouldnt be happy if i didnt ....no internet isnt fun

Well most routers have an easy to understand quick setup wizard, where you just enter in your username/password, set your time zone etc. and boom your done. All other settings you'll never really need to change, make sure upnp is on and if your wifi isn't working correctly try changing wireless channels. That's about it hey for all your internet needs, if you needed more you would already know about it.
