Hey guys, I just set-up a system but it does not work. I have set it up properly, it turns on, fans run, but it does not beep and nothing appears on the monitor. I am using a Z97-A motherboard with the MemOK button/light. The light is red when I turn it on, pressing it resets the system and the light starts to flash for about 20 seconds then it is solid again. I have tried using one stick of memory in each slot. I have taken out all the memory and the gpu, but it still does not beep. Does this mean my motherboard is dead?

The motherboard/ram/gpu are all compatible.

HD audio plugged in?

Speaker plugged in?

GPU plugged in?

I was under the impression that you did not need to have hd audio or speaker plugged in to have it run. I should have said, this is out of the case test build. Gpu is plugged in w/ power to it, lights are on.

Even the littlest things are important. Obviously there won't be a beep if there isn't a speaker plugged in.

Motherboard 24-pin? CPU 8-pin/4-pin?

Otherwise sounds like a faulty GPU or Motherboard PCIE lane

Try this, You have the memory in slot B1, put it in Slot A1,A2. I bet anything that is your problem. ( put the memory in the first black slot, that is A1 A2 slot )

Edit, I mean put the stick in Slot A2 the first gray slot, my bad brain fart, that is twice today :(

Sadly, that is not my issue. I have tried the memory in every slot. With the same issue occurring..

Hmm thats strange, having the memory in the corrct slots, is the biggest issue with memory not reading on a board. Gskill memory works hand in hand with ASUS motherboards, so I dont think it is the memory.

Try this, try pluging the video source to the motherboard not the GPU. The bios might just be set to read the onboard video first but also put the memory in slot A2 as well when doing so.

Try one more thing, try just a VGA cable going from the onboard video to the monitor, if that does not work, im lost for words and ideas of what it could be, while doing this, clear the CMOS button and do not hit mem OK button.

Nothing came from this.  I think I may have found the problem. I unplugged teh cpu power plug to look at it, forgot to plug it back in, then booted it up. No red lights came on. Does this mean the cpu is installed incorrectly?

There is only one way to install the CPU, if it fit without force, then you did it corectlly, if you forced the CPU in or bent any of the pins on the motherboard, that can be cuasing the issue.
