Heatpipe ends crushed - normal?

Go to solution Solved by Enderman,

That's how heatpipes are always closed off.

They're essentially smashed.

If you looked at the pictures you can see not all the heatpipes are messed up. Some are perfectly fine...

So I was taking some nudes of my PC today and I noticed that a few pipes in my D14 look like they imploded or something. These are the only three pipes that look like this - you can see the dents at the tip of them.

Anyone know if that's normal, or is this a defect? I've had this cooler since last fall and I never noticed it, so I don't know if it's always been there D:

@Kloaked it's normal @Enderman

Well it certainly shouldn't be...

Its probably a manufacturing issue.

And I expected Noctua to be top notch...apparently not :(

It doesn't affect performance though because the rest of the heat pipe still touches the fins. It's just not aesthetically pleasing, and there is no reason why it should be like this.

Very few companies make them all look perfect, the only one I can find right now is thermalright (not thermaltake) with their silver arrow extreme.

weird I can't say I have one to refute that, but anytime I've seen it in any sort of media or build log it looks damn near perfect.

I believe you but any chance of pics?

As explained by @mvitkun. If you notice,the heatpipe is only 'crushed' at one end. That's why you'll see some have it,some don't.
