Hi!

I have my D5100 for quite some time now and am pretty happy overall.

But i decided to get some accessories:

  • a battery grip
  • an additional battery
  • a screen protector
  • an uv filter/glass filter
  • a hand loop (now idea how this i called)

i would like the battery grip to be good quality and fit the finish of my camera and dont feel extremely plasticy. i dont need a particular brand, chinese no-brand is fine as long as it goes with my expectations.

on the battery, i am really not sure. i got one EN-EL14 and would like one more for my battery grip. should i get an original one or a copy? and if, which copy should i get? how compatible are they? btw, i got 3rd party batterys enabled via nikon hacker.

a glass screen protector would be nice.

a filter, just to protect my lens. it needs to 67mm, that is everything i care about.

i was thinking of something along those lines: http://www.amazon.de/Case4Life-Handschlaufe-griff-Kameras-Bridgekameras/dp/B00GNGISBS/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1402510803&sr=8-6&keywords=d5100+handschlaufe. i would like if it was good quality and a good system, this looks kind of flimsy. it would be super-awesome if i could still mount my quick-change tripod thing on the bottom.

i am not on a budget, but i would still not like to spend more than necessary. i am willing to pay a few extra bucks for looks, quality or additional features.

i am shopping on amazon.de, would be great if you could link me to products there. shipping through amazon is prefered as well.

if would be great if you could just leave me opinions, experiences you had with these products or recommed products to me. i am open to anything!

cheers!

1. There is no official battery grip for the D5100 so you're stuck with cheap chinese versions... I have one and I wouldn't reccomend it.

2. The D5100 only accepts official batteries so you don't have much choice there

3. Not sure about screen protectors

4. Get a good quality UV filter (Hoya makes good ones IIRC)

5. Just use the strap that came with the camera

^ your number 2 point is wrong.

i have the same DSLR as you, and i decided to get accessories for it too.

i currently have a battery grip and ordered two EN-EL14+ batteries, a third party.

Battery Grip

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005DP8YJG/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Li-ion Battery

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00D65Q0C8/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

ive had both of the items for around a month now, the battery grip is amazing, does the job perfectly well. the look of the grip has the same look as the camera, such as the printings. the grip is the same as the nikon camera. it's an amazing product.

the battery does the job well too, it works perfectly with my D5100, and its fully coded which allows you to charge it with the nikon charger. As for the filters, hoya makes some good filters.

1. that is true. but there are some known brands, i am pretty sure and there price differences as well. so should i just get the cheapest one?

2. but what about nikon hacker? and why are other batterys even sold then?

3. ok, i think i'll just get the cheapest.

4. is the price difference really worth it`?

5. did you look a the link? the strap that came with the camera is used to hang it around your neck and this is for your hand.

Why not just get more batteries instead of a battery grip? I think it would be useless unless you shoot in portrait a lot.

i am doing that. i think its just easier to hold the camera with a battery grip. and you need to take out the batterys.
