780ti Watercooling Question.

I have made a few threads about my project this summer to configure a custom loop in my main rig. I will have lots of questions as time goes on. One of them being, since I am going to water cool a 780ti, or at least that's the plan. Would I need to get a reference model? Or would any model work? Thanks!

You don't need reference. Just check for compatibility before you buy the block.

I have a classified and use an EK 780 Classified Block. While it does say 780 classy instead of 780ti classy, it works just as well. Some don't have waterblocks so make sure the one you're buying has a waterblock readily available.

Reference is good, because it's sometimes cheaper and waterblocks are specifically made for it. My guess is that if the power delivery and vram is in the same place, it should work the same. Check for compatibility though.

You'll need a reference PCB to fit a reference desing waterblock. But there also are blocks for the DCU2 model, the windforce one, the EVGA one and so on.

If you get a reference PCB GTX 780 Ti, you can get a reference waterblock but if you get a non reference PCB like the DCU II or the Classified, you must get the appropriate block for it meaning you need to get a waterblock designed for the GTX 780 Ti DCU II or Classified.
