I need help

Go to solution Solved by Nxl8,

i hope its just a ram issue, though the results i got from the whocrashed program concerns me too.

Something else to try would be to reset CMOS. You will lose all BIOS settings including any overclocks. There are various ways to do this. If you search up how to clear CMOS jumper there will be thousands of tutorials online, searching those up would be far easier than to explain.

Okay i have a problem with my PC, ever since i accidentally knocked it over it started acting real slow. games would be really choppy and videos would frame skip then after a while it blue screened. I tried to see what the problem was but no luck, i swapped out hard drives thinking it was probably damaged but while i was installing the OS on the new drive it blue screened. strangely though i can still access my desktop, it boots up all the way but eventually bluescreens, and after i backed up my data again it blue screen. when i restarted it it would just turn off till the next day it booted it up all the way so now i'm not sure what's wrong anymore, though my friends tell me it might be a cpu or motherboard problem. i forgot to mention that the bluescreen doesnt give me an error code.

my PC specs are
Msi Z87-G41 pc mate
Nvidia GTX 660
OS windows 8 pro
Intel i5 4670k
ram Corsair vengeance 8g

One terrabyte hard drive

Whocrashed program to see what BSOD causes are.

Rebuild the computer pretty much. This makes sure all components are properly seated since a fall can make them come loose

Yes they're hooked up good

In that case I'd do what @ttam said. Take it apart, rebuild it, clean it if it's dusty (you never know). and then use WhoCrashed (direct download link) to see what causes the crashes.

okay so i did that then ran the whocrashed program and got two errors which were Kernel security check failures. on the descriptions one was a Ntoskrnl.exe and the other was afd.sys not to sure what those are and they had data corruption. i can post the screenshot if you guys would like.

Run Memtest if you haven't already, this might show an issue as if I remember rightly that kernel is to do with memory; RAM or HD could be cause.

Also run chkdsk /F in command prompt although you said you tried a different HD it doesn't hurt to check. It is more likely a RAM issue.

Err I don't know why but when editing my last post it decided to quote it and make a new post for no reason. Sorry about that.

okay i got the usb one, and installed it on a pindrive since i dont have a floppy or a cd to burn. how do you use this?

http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/topic/246994-guide-to-using-memtest86/ this guide should be good enough. The first bit is about downloading and burning, it sounds like you have done that part though.

CCould possibly a RAM issue but I am not terribly experienced in these issue so you may wish to ask someone else or try googling possible reasons why.

Something else to try would be to reset CMOS. You will lose all BIOS settings including any overclocks. There are various ways to do this. If you search up how to clear CMOS jumper there will be thousands of tutorials online, searching those up would be far easier than to explain.

Okay i've been busy this week but i came back, reset the bios and turned it back on it went to the desktop like usual and it ran videos fine for a while so i decided to run a defrag for the drivers and normally when i did that it would blue screen. this time however it made it to ten percent then it just turned off, not sure what caused that.

it looks like reseting the bios fixed it after all thank you so much bro, at first i thought it was still broken cause it shut off on its own and after i messed with the powersupply switch, flicking it down then back to its original spot. when i turned it on the day after it ran super smooth and when i ran my games they were perfect so were my videos. thank you!
