Couldn't find any other posts asking this question so as the title says asus 7850s in xfire or a single 7950? links to any information would be much appreciated also personal experience with this would help too. like microstuttering from xfire or driver issues.

Cheers
Shaun

If you already have a 7850 get another one for sure. CF 7850 will absolutly obliterate even the fastest OCed HD 7950.

Been running 7850s in crossfire since october. And with the latest beta drivers i've not noticed too many issues.

Major issues are: Light screen flicker in dark areas in Metro 2033 and some screen tearing in skyrim without vsync.
I currently have my fingers crossed for the prototype drivers :D

Screen tering is normal for when Vsync is not on and this is not a problem with CF.

i did with 2 7850's like last november(catalyst 12.8 or 12.10 not sure) just to see how it would be if i had another 7850 max payne3 and dead island was stuttering a lot on X4 960 (system wasnt mine and cpu was overclocked to 4ghz) i only owned 1 7850 so im not sure how it will perform now but i dont think stuttering is fixed that much since then

MP3 is very CPU bottelnecked game on your CPU so that's why it stutterd. As for Dead Island I am not sure how optimized that game is so I can't pin point the problem as I have not played it.

I vote for 7950. IMO a higher-end card is better than a Dual lower-end GPU configuration. Also you must add other facts than performance. 2 GPUs need more power, thus more heat is produced in the case and thus you need better cooling overall, inside the case and to the rest components of the PC. Also they use at least 4 Pci brackets(case brackets-2 PCI-e motherboard slots), which means that if you got a small motherboard you can't add more things. In addition, the noise is much higher( consider that the chances of having a coil whinning card are higher when you have 2 GPUs).

Hope it helped!

i'd rather get a better single gpu than CF

Generally speaking CF is a great idea as an upgrade path for end user that have already made a GPU investment but are looking to upgrade. Generally speaking you will absolutly get the best bang for your buck as in performance per dollar going to a CF or SLI solution over a single GPU if you already have one GPU and a proper CF/SLI mobo and PSU.

I have two 7950 boost cards and i have to say that Radeon Pro removes any issues with stuttering. And even before i used radeon pro the only real bad stutters i had where in Far Cry 3..
