$1000 Gaming Laptop

I agree with the link about the Lenovo y510p. Another inexpensive option is Clevo/Sager:

Hell, why not just go for a regular form factor PC? Both small and regular are nearly identical in the sense that they're pretty damn impractical/inconvenient to take through the airport/to the library/to the hotel. I agree that anybody thinking about a gaming laptop needs to seriously consider whether they actually need one, but let's not pretend that gaming desktops are remotely close to being as transportable.
