Hi guys , i have a question , I have a msi pro b760m-b ddr4 mobo with a i5 14400f  and I want to stress test my used gpu, is it safe to stress test my 6800xt on it using cinebench or furmark? Bcz I've heard of some hardware failure while stress testing the gpu , especially with furmark.

furmark use to run non stop and i guess ever increasing the temp or load on it. i think the stock furmark now has a time limit and dont think it pushes to the max with out some settings.

run any gpu with a stress test long enough and you can get damage.

back in the day cooling was meh as there were hybrid cooling witch often dint have any vrm cooling or not enough as well as blower cards running even hotter as well as sli. and gpus too close to each other.

before that older gpus dint have much safety or programs with safety in it. and small amounts of oc was considered good.

so with proper cooling, monitoring, (not leaving the pc running for hours) should be fine. its its safe today.

I have dyslexia plz be kind to me. dont like my post dont read it or respond thx

also i edit post alot because you no why...

The motherboard VRM's shouldn't matter for GPU testing. The VRM on the board is only for chips on the board like CPU + RAM.

The 14400f stock isn't that power hungry, and with a 65w sustained power limit, it really doesn't need great VRM's as it doesn't pull much power.

So u think furmark is good for gpu stress testing or should I go with cinebench or something else?

So I can stress test it on any program and it shouldn't give me Hardware damage, what program do u recommend?

What is your goal with stress testing? I'd generally try programs you use and if it works for like 15min is pretty unlikely to have issues. There are edge cases where only some programs have a issue, but its pretty rare and very hard to track down.

Why do you want to stress test?

I thought we covered all this crap in previous threads, you know the part about just enjoying your stuff and if it works well for you... you're good?

Furmark is frowned up on by EVGA directly, use something else if you must.

Use memtest_vulkan from github for GPU memory, anything else is all load dependent. Why exactly are you stress testing? Are you current having system issues and trying to narrow it down? Thermal issues? Something else?

I mentioned in the pg post that my gpu is used so I want to check if it has any issues

Why is everyone asking me this , I mentioned in the og post that I want to stress test my USED gpu to see if it has any problems , bcz the store i got it from has 1 week warranty and I dont want to face issues later on if I could have detected it earlier. I am really enjoying my pc , every day when I wake up first thing I do is going to check on it .

Vulkan test is pretty easy, just run the file and let it do it's thing. It will spit out a report at the end.

Other than that, just run through your games that you play. Do they work? Yes - keep the card. No - return the card.

Check your FPS to a similar setup. If you are in spitting distance, then you are fine. Don't overthink it.

open it up and select the card and then let it run to see if memory has any issues
