Hey guys, I was trying to decide between these 2 graphics cards. A EVGA GeForce GTX 760 or an Asus AMD 270x. I wanted to know from those of you who run them which you think would be better for 1080p video game playing, recording, and streaming. Feel free to suggest other cards that are in the price range of $0-$300.

Much thanks,

                  Isaac

the GTX 760 has Shadowplay for streaming and recording, performs better but is more expensive.

Unless you're really into Youtube I recommend a PowerColor Devil R9 270X, because it's the best R9 270X and is relatively cheap

GTX 760 if you want G-Sync and Shadowplay.

If you're playing mostly "AMD games" like Battlefield 4, go for de 270x

PowerColor fanboy much?

I'd get something from Asus, MSI, or Sapphire instead. Also for that price I would get a R9 280 instead. Maybe even a R9 290 if you can afford it.

That's a first

AMD doesn't have any of the stupid fluff that is half broken that Nvidia does. AMD isn't locked down like a damn vault in terms of overclocking if you don't buy the right card. AMD doesn't have any stupid gpu boost 2.0 that flip flops your clock speeds around all over the place. I can go in and manually set things in .cfg files for AMD unlike Nvidia.

All I know is I had FAR less problems with my 7950 than I have my gtx770 and the problems I did have were WAY easier to fix than my gtx770. I will give Nvidia props for having some cool features like shadowplay and such.

Okay, I'm getting quite a few people saying the 270x. What about wanting to do SLI of 2 760s? I'm thinking about doing that in the future. Any suggestions?

Don't even bother, buy either of the two cards you are thinking about and instead of buying another one just save up and buy a newer generation card that will be out by the time you save the money. Either of these cards will last you a minimum of a year so you have plenty of time.

So, go with getting one card for now, and then later just upgrade to one newer generation? And forget SLI?

Yea that is almost always the best option. You will get the newest features, performance increase, longer support for the card, and just generally better tech when sticking to the newest gen cards.

The Devil is the best 270X out, and that is from the non-fanboy side of me (It's shrinking so take its advice fast)

It has the highest clock speeds and is huge as hell. Their devil lineup is their "uber" lineup so it's really good.

I got an EVGA GTX 760 Superclocked with ACX Cooler recently, and I'm very happy with it. ShadowPlay is amazing - I don't actually use it but I gave it a quick test and saw absolutely no performance hit - and this is even when writing to the same drive I'm playing on (just an HDD, not SSD). So if you want ShadowPlay you won't be disappointed by it.

I also got the Dual Bios version (same price as single when I was buying, so thought I may as well) and got a free backplate which was a nice touch too.

All in all I think you would be very satisfied with the card, I can easily get the necessary 60fps in all modern games on High or Ultra settings. Not bad for what is one of the "lower-end" gaming cards.

I'll go with GTX760 or R9-280 a.k.a HD7950. R9-270x is a tier lower overall.

I'd avoid any ASUS AMD cards at the moment, especially the R9 290 series. Sapphire gets a vote for me because they make absolutely fantastic coolers for AMD cards without a hefty price premium.

As for GTX 760 vs R9 270X, the GTX 760 is slightly faster on average, but only because it's noticeably faster in games optimized for Nvidia cards like Batman: Arkham Asylum. Likewise, the R9 270X also leads the GTX 760 in AMD optimized games like Battlefield 4, but not as big a lead as the GTX 760 commands in Nvidia optimized games. But in all other games, both are practically equal.

If easy to setup game streaming is important to you, the GTX 760 may be worth the extra cost. But personally, I prefer the speed and quality of Intel's Quick Sync over Shadowplay, although I'll admit setting up Quick Sync with a discrete GPU is not noob friendly. If you have an Intel CPU that has Quick Sync, it's definitely worth the setup, especially if you demand quality video. If you're on an AMD CPU and desperately need video streaming that doesn't affect performance, go for the GTX 760.

It also cost about 225$, and for 220$ you can buy a R9 280 DCUII or a MSI Gaming card.
