So what's everybody doing in arena commander?

Hey Velketor;

Are you using the Thrustmaster Hotas?  If so would you be willing to share your xml file for the control configuration?  The initial file referenced in the Pilot Guide for the Thrustmaster Warthog is woefully lacking.  Thanks.

Yippee ki yay

I'm actually using the X52 Pro and Saitek Pro rudder pedals.

Here is what I currently have changed though.

Added decoupled mode to button 31 (on throttle).

Added G-Safety/Comstab on button 16 (on throttle)

Moved Flares to button 6 (on Joystick)

Added zoom to button 5 (on joystick)

Joined my group 1 and group 2 weapons on the trigger buttons 1 and 15 (same button with 2 different functions)

Moved Star ship camera view to button 9 (on base of joystick)

I moved roll to my rudder pedals, and put Yaw on the X axis

Assuming it posts, here is what needs to be copied to a XML file and placed in Starcitizen\Citizenclient\data\controls\mapping

(you must create the controls and mapping folders)

<ActionMaps ignoreVersion="1" >

<actionmap name="spaceship_movement">

<action name="v_roll">

<rebind device="joystick" input="js2_rotz" />

</action>

<action name="v_yaw">

<rebind device="joystick" input="js1_x" />

</action>

<action name="v_ifcs_toggle_safety">

<rebind device="keyboard" input="js1_button16" />

</action>

<action name="v_ifcs_toggle_vector_decoupling">

<rebind device="keyboard" input="js1_button31" />

</action>

</actionmap>

<actionmap name="spaceship_weapons">

<action name="v_attack1_group2">

<rebind device="joystick" input="js1_button15" />

</action>

</actionmap>

<actionmap name="spaceship_defensive">

<action name="v_weapon_launch_countermeasure">

<rebind device="joystick" input="js1_button6" />

</action>

</actionmap>

<actionmap name="spaceship_view">

<action name="v_view_dynamic_focus_toggle">

<rebind device="joystick" input="js1_button5" />

</action>

<action name="v_view_cycle_fwd">

<rebind device="joystick" input="js1_button9" />

</action>

</actionmap>

</ActionMaps>

Also create a user.cfg file and place it in the Starcitizen\Citizenclient    folder

Add this line

cl_invertYaw=1   (only if your pedals are reversed)

Even if you don't use a X52 pro,  You can still use these commands to change your Thrustmaster.  You just need to know what the button numbers on your joystick are and change those accordingly.

Hey Velketor

I appreciate the info.  Do the control/control button identifications in the Saitek documentation (manual) correspond to the  Action Device labels used in the action map editing process?

I used the Control Panel in the Software provided by Saitek to identify the buttons.  I have never looked at the manual at all so I wouldn't know.

  • 1 month later...

I've been trying to get past wave 12 in my 300i trainer recently, well until my stick broke. Now I'm holding off until my x52 pro arrives and I modify my desk to accommodate the damn thing and/or I get into the MP which might be some time as I am #455143.

The game looks good, although i'm out of town and won't be able to play for awhile.

Hopefully it becomes a big game with a massive community so we can always play with different people.

ok I hope that there will be fast moving rocks and if you are sitting still will impale you and do massive amounts of damage. kinda like the PU just giving you the bird.

Vanduul Swarm has already paid for itself even if I have to play it a 15fps

  • 3 weeks later...

So after more than 3 weeks of not playing SC I've updated the game and took a shot at the Vanduul Swarm.

There must have been some balancing work done as the 300i seemed much tougher (in terms of how much damage it can take). I made it to the 14th wave on the first attempt even though the missiles are much less deadly now.

Still I want the custom button mappings so bad :) I hate the xml workarounds and having a hotas is a wasted potential as for now.

Now that I feel a little less ashamed of my skills I'll try the multi player tomorrow :)
