Just built a PC

RX580

i5-8400

H310m-A R2.0

its not booting, motherboard led lights are on and gpu has a blue led indicator, the ram is RGB but it isnt lighting up, tried reseating ram and reinstalling cpu.

Cpu doesnt have any writing on it, bought of ebay. How do I know if the CPU is the issue, all other parts I have used before.

Any recommendations?

The only thing I found is that the CPU power connector is a lil jiggly and I am able to partly pull it out without pressing down on the latch.

My keyboard is also partly lighting up ( it does this whenever there is an error)

Can you still make a complaint to eBay or Paypal using the Buyer protection ? Just make sure you don't let the issue drag past the deadline.

Buying a CPU without markings on it is pretty risky to begin with. There are so many variants of every CPU that writings are essentials to correctly identify the CPU outside a computer. Not counting that the fabrication date and serial number are parts of those writings.

There is a chance that your CPU isn't compatible with the BIOS of your motherboard but the i5-8400 should be compatible with even the first BIOS shipped with this motherboard.

The best test to make sure the CPU is good is to install it in a known working computer compatible with that CPU. If you don't have one handy, you can probably find one in most repair shops.

Once again, beware of dodgy eBay deals. You should also contact the seller to let him know you have issues with the CPU and ask if he can help you. You never know.

Good luck !

Swap in a known good CPU

What specific text does it have?

There doesn't seem to be a GPU in that pic

I added the new ram and added a new cpu, now my keyboard lights up differently. It still doesnt work.

Well, then it's one of the parts, but you said that  you have used them all. So the next step is to pull all the components out and build it on a box.

How recently did you use them?

inspect the socket for bent pins
also, do you have the mobo buzzer speaker? If you install that you should be able to hear the beep codes. Or, looking at your pic, plug some headphones into the front panel audio jack

Honestly, I have several 8th gen intel machines and they're starting to just get weird. Not booting correctly, random reboots and crashes. This might just be a dead board

Replicate the build that worked a few weeks ago, make sure it still works, then start swapping parts from there until you get to this build.

Sometimes mobos die. It's a fact of life. And sometimes they aren't dead enough to fail completely.

Reseat the power cables. If the PSU is modular, check to make sure that the cables are fully seated on that end as well.

What motherboard LEDs are on?
