Unreal engine 5 games issue

Go to solution Solved by Ebony Falcon,

If u want silent hill f to run well

Set frame cap front edge sync and 160fps in rtss

drop lumen settings from epic to high

Smooth motion on in the nvdia app ( it’s more than good enough at 160 fps)

And dlss quality if needed to keep gpu usage under 90 percent ( u want a decent gpu usage buffer when capping frames )

game will run at a locked 160 average with 0.1 lows going to 148

just reading ur post if u don’t restart the pc u said u have windows open in background from work ect

obviously they get closed when you restart the pc so Maby try just closing those windows and programs and only having the game running

also the programmes ur using for work are probly leaving background processes running which Definatly won’t help

My new rig is a 9800x3d and 5070ti with 32 gb ram. Currently playing kingdom come deliverance 2, battlefiled 2042, silent hill f and borderlands 4. I use the pc for work usually having quite a few windows open and in the evening for gaming. I find that for borderland 4 and silent hill f, restarting the pc every few days makes the games run smoother. I do not need to do this with the other 2 games, I can never restart and they run fine. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this because of bad optimisation of unreal 5 engine games?

Yes, and yes.

It's covered in the Borderlands 4 fix thread.  As well as many many many other gaming news websites that break it down pretty well, as Epic has chimed in even.

No worries man, I enjoy taking games that “run bad” and finding out how to make them run better and more enjoyable

not sure if I like doing that more than playing the actual games lol

I’m about half way through silent hill f I’m really enjoying it

Justin case you don’t no how to set up the frame limiter, download msi afterburner, install it and the other program it comes with called rtss

open afterburner and minimise it, go to system tray and u will see a program that looks like a little blue screen,

click and open that, ul see a box to type a number to limit frames type the 160 in there then click on the settings option at the bottom and find the option called async click that box and it will show more options, in there you can choose front edge sync

Thanks m8 but the smooth motion not only fixed silent hill but also borderlands 4, they are running really well. It looks like this is a must for unreal engine 5 games.

You don’t need it in borderlands, that one has built in frame gen and is better than smooth motion
