need your budget $$$

I don't have one. I guess 400-500$?

The person I'm building this PC for just wants to play games such as BOUT Evolution, Tribes:Ascend and FlyFF.

New chipsets are too expensive and un needed, as is the CPU. I'm thinking a H81/H87 M/B with one of them fancy new Pentiums. Everything else seems good though.

I also forgot to specify that the budget is As low as you can go for decent performance.

Check the pricing. The difference between H87 and H97 is generally < $1. I picked the Asus board because it has 4 memory slots. If you elect to go with H81 or H87 and a Haswell Refresh cpu, make sure that the motherboard you plan to get will ship with a Haswell Refresh compatible BIOS installed - check with the retailer, (or is an Asus with USB BIOS Flashback).

I'd switch to an i3 that's OC able or a mid end AMD cpu and 750 to 750TI

Well were I am, (Canada eh!) we have site called Shopbot.ca which will find the lowest prices in Canada. And the main PC store in my town, memory express does price match. So I use shopbot to find a low price then get the price over ride! Works nicely, has saved me a lot of money so far. Right now I'm thinking I'll pick out an FX-6300/4300 just for the performance for what he plays and what he'll be using the PC for. Intel chipsets aren't really a great option because the SSD I gave him is incompatible with Z87, IDK about the rest.

@GloriousPain

You have an FX-4300, how is it?

Here's my current idea.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/kYdCFT

very good my last build (may it rest in peace note: it was dead before I joined LTT died of crammy PSU disorder) was an i5 3570k and I'd consider it very comparable.

mmmk.

I have a plan. Mind you 270x is really exspensive at memory express, like 270$!
