Dialogue around outdoor TVs has been in the past that it's better to just replace a cheap indoor TV many times rather than pay for the expense of an outdoor rated TV (unless you're concerned about brightness). Has anyone seen anything compelling in the outdoor TV space lately?

I'm especially interested in the ability to have a fully-exposed (uncovered) outdoor TV. I think a physical cover when not using the TV makes sense to protect it from UV rays/rain, but what is the best solution these days if you want to install an outdoor TV but there is no roof to put it under? I haven't seen anything myself, so I'm wondering if there is a solution. Could it be a way to elegantly put the TV away (somehow?) and then bring it back out at night when you need to use it? Not sure, but I'm someone who recommends things like this to homeowners (not necessarily TVs but that is included). I have been extremely curious if there is a good solution for this. Maybe it's as simple as a custom cabinet with a nice movable wall mount. However, it would be really cool if there's been some innovation in the tech of outdoor TVs that I have overlooked. It seems like it's been a lot of the same besides marginal spec improvements from my perspective, but maybe I'm wrong. Anyone have any thoughts?

outside the market for signage displays, there is literally half a douzen of you.. there is no market for an outdoor rated TV.

lol what

There is a HUGE market for outdoor TVs. Practically every single upper-middle to upper class home I have worked in over the past 10 years or so has had one or more outdoor TVs and they are specifically marketed and designed for that very purpose.

My company was installing 5-10 outdoor TVs a week and we were a just a low voltage company, mainly doing security system installs.

i (unfortunatley) come into contact with a lot of upper class people, and i've never EVER had anyone suggest to me the desire to have a TV outside. (other than the obligatory LTT video ofcourse)

i presume this is a thing in specific regions then? please do enlighten me where this is commonplace then.

This is old information. It used to be that you could replace a cheap TV 10 or so times before getting up to the same price as an Outdoor rated TV, but today that number is more like 3 or 4 times.

Now.... is that still worth it? Maybe, I'm not sure how long a cheap TV would last outside. But I don't really think it will last long enough to outlast an outdoor TV just once. It would probably make a huge difference depending on how much cover the TV has, or ho humid it gets on average in your area.

I'm in Florida, and also a huge sports town. Being in Florida means a lot of humidity and 90% of these people get them for sports related parties and whatnot so you may be right about it being region specific.

Several houses I worked in had entire, fully set an functioning kitchens outside. Fridge, stove AND grills, ovens, and everything else you can think of, all outside.

Lol I have not seen those yet, but I have seen a bunker or two...

Unfortunately, the thing that infuriates me the most and something I see more often than I'd like down here, is rich people with dogs that aren't allowed inside. in Florida heat.
