Daily Driving Asahi Linux

Hey,

I'm about to start studying Computer Science and need a laptop for that. I've found some good deals on older M2 Macbooks, but I'm not gonna put up with MacOS.

Has anyone tried daily driving Asahi Linux, especially for development or general uni work? Is it ready for that or does it still need time to cook?

Honestly I fail to see why you would need/want to install it. If you need Linux, there are much better options, especially on X86 platforms.

you could always take a chance on Arch since it's a very light and really customizable distro:

 

 

i don't know how good it will perform on apple silicon but it generally performs really good on many systems

Asahi is still very much in development

You're gonna want to use MacOS with a Linux VM, or you're gonna want a standard x86 based laptop with a "normal, tried and tested" Distro on it then 😉

Just get a used framework if you hate apple.

 

Asahi linux is probably going to have some incompatibility down the line.
