Cpu usage rates driving me crazy

Go to solution Solved by JAKEBAB,

not many games are optimized to use 4 cores let alone 8 and this shows that hence why u are only getting heavy usage on 4 cores theres not much u can really do except wait for devs to optimize for more cores which is slowly happening with new games but older games your out of luck unfortunately.

I'm not getting the most of my system I believe, so i did some troubleshooting and found that my CPUs core usages were very uneven. There are screen shots attached to this post for more detail, they contain the monitoring of my hardware. Anyway I was wondering it this is bad and if so is how to fix it if possible.

Specs:
OS: Windows 8.1 64 bit

Would parking some of the cores fix this? just a thought.

Glad to know its all right but another issue i failed to note is my gpu temps. My room is at a constant 50 degrees Fahrenheit great airflow throughout my room and case but seem to get high temps constant for instance I'm getting 50 degrees Celsius  without any games up or high demanding programs is there anything that would cause this?

do u mean unparking some of his cores? if so no its got to do with the game just not being made to leverage that many cores.

That does seem a bit unusual what case do u have? have you overclocked your cpu? what cpu cooler are you using? when it is hitting 50c have u opened something like gpu z and checked what load your gpu is running at?

My case is the XION Gaming Series XON-985-BK Black I've replaced the front stock fans with cooler masters and mounted 2 more cooler master case fans on the 2 open top mounts

I have not overclocked my cpu or gpu

im using the stock cpu cooler for the  AMD FX-8350 Vishera 4.0GHz that im using

When I open gpu-z it flickers between 0 and 1%

It's probably because you're using the stock cooler.

Those things aren't great at what they do

I just looked at your card didnt realise it is superclocked with the stock cooler it does sound about right and your cpu is power hungry so that is probably making your case a bit hotter too my 780 stock cooler idles around 40-45c not overclocked.

So what do you recommend? External gpu cooler new cpu cooler? Something to get the heat out! I don't mind gaming in a wind tunnel much as I have amazing noise canceling headphones

Theres not much u can do without water cooling or effecting the other components unfortunately get some air penetrators and have them running at full lol (that would be really loud) why are u so concerned? your computer runs fine does it not? could maybe get one of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186097&cm_re=780_ti_cooler-_-35-186-097-_-Product

No my thought was turn 4 of the cores of thus making it a 4 core forcing more usage of the CPU probs wouldnt work but maybe try

Its already using the 4 cores as much as it ever will. When u play a game it doesnt make all cores go to 99% they vary one might be 80% one might be 60% and the other to might be like 50%

I am concern because even playing low demanding games I get up to 80c to 90c and my frames aren't all that great  when it's running hot it seems, also does that fan require 300w? Because if I don't have to get a new psu I will definitely buy that.

no it doesn't use 300w at all the 300w is the max card wattage it can handle.

your card is fine it only has a max tdp of like 220w

Edit: here look its actually 250w click on the details tab and bottom left it will say http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=03G-P4-2883-KR

Ok great! So i'll definitly get that cooler and do you recommend any cpu water coolers? I came up with http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103179 idk if that is the best i can get or not. Another reason I'm concerned is my friend and I built identical rigs and after a month of usage his gpu burnt out completely from it running hot too long

Thats od i have never heard of that happening especially with a 780ti that cpu is good and is going to be alot better than the stock cooler that is on there now there is obviously better but it all depends on how much u want to spend.
