I've just been doing some overclocking of my AMD FX-8350 and have managed to push 5.0Ghz Stable on Prime 95, is this good?

About an hour and a half of P95, CPU Got up to about 54C and Socket got to 67C

I always believe in pushing a CPU to its maximum safe limits, always could do with squeezing every last inch of your components

That's some seriously good temps for 1.54v.

I used a 24/7, 4.7Ghz @1.4v

That is throttling pretty good. I put up better scores at 4.895Ghz then you would around 5.1Ghz. So drop voltage and core speed back until you can get it stable at 1.5 volt or less then slowly walk the multi back and voltage back up.

What scores did you get at that speed? I'll do some more tweaking if required, that's why I was getting opinions here

The closest screenshot I have to your 5.02Ghz is at 5.088Ghz scores 803

It looked like your FX-8350 was throttling down due to temperatures.

Keep an eyes on the temperatures for:

• CPU / Processor package
• VRMs
• SB (if you are overclocking them / adding voltage)
• NB (if you are overclocking them / adding voltage)

 

Score of 755 @ 5.2GHz w/ 1.54V is a little low.

Score of 783 @ 5.2GHz w/ 1.5325V makes a bit more sense.

 

My FX-8350 @ 4.8GHz w/ 1.4V gets Cinebench R15 Scores of:

• Multi-threaded: 768
• Single-threaded: 116

Eh...I'll throw my 3DMark Firestrike results up as well. FX-8350 @ 4.8GHz, single HD 7970 @ stock (925 / 1375). I haven't run a test with the GPU overclocked yet so...

HT frequency and CPU/NB frequency doesn't seem to have too much impact on performance, but going too low does(?). In a few of your screen captures, they were clocked down at 2200MHz. Personally, I'd bring it up to 2400MHz or above...but since we are overclocking here, 2600MHz...or 2800MHz / 3000MHz if you can get it stable  .
