I built my friend a pc and after some time it started randomly crashing and bluescreening. It happens in every game but especially in GTA 5 and Fortnite. I ran some stability tests using OCCT like vram, gpu, cpu, ram and everything went great but when i try to play with him GTA it crashes randomly and i dont know why. I also used aida64 and windows memory diagnostic tool and both of them returned no errors. I also read online about a GPU driver issue and he went back to driver 566.36 nvidia like the reddit threads said but his pc keeps crashing. Please Help!!!

Is GTA the only intensive game that crashes/bluescreens PC?

Are other games installed on same drive as others?

From hardware perspective, have you tried using just one stick of RAM and then the other to confirm it's not RAM problem?

So it crashes whether you use either single RAM stick?

Are all parts new?

Go to C:\Windows\Minidump and check if you have any minidump files. If you do, go back to the Windows folder and copy the Minidump folder itself to the Downloads folder (You can use the desktop if you don't have OneDrive syncing files). Zip the copied folder and attach it to a post.

From what i saw when using only the first stick of RAM(slot A2)(i have to mention that the sticks were bought separately but they are the same thing) is less prone to bluescreening and before he bought the second stick he got a lot less bluescreens and restarts.

Yes, all the parts are new

Do you have d.o.c.p or expo enabled in bios? Because that led to crashes in my old system as well when i was playing such games. Also the components and games are very power demanding... if you have a spare psu (min 1000w) try that one just temporarily. A 750w psu should be sufficient but that would be the first culprit i suspect.

Also what error message do you get on the bsod?

Wish you good luck 🤞🏻

Same speed and CL latency too?

If first stick is "less prone to bluescreening", it might be RAM. The question is now, why is it bluescreening with one stick that seems to be the better one?

You could try with the comment above, disabling RAM OC, to see if that fixes the issue or points towards possible solution.

they are the same thing

The Manufactor numbers are not identical. this should work if the Speed, Capacity, Timings, Voltage are the same but also could lead to errors . If you want to be sure they are compatible and lower the risk of errors i recommend using "identical" RAM-Sticks (often bought in a set - they are tested)

If you are using mismatched memory sticks, both need to be set up using the lower settings of the two. If they are set to 1T change it to 2T, helped mine.

2ea) DDR4 - 3600 and 2ea) DDR - 4000 in my system.  had to increase the timings by 2 numbers and use 2T to be stable at 3600 64GB.

Do you only crash when playing games, but never outside of them?

Yes, only in game and there was one time when it bluescreened in windows when he was using ryzen master so he could put that in default

Is one of the disks dedicated to only hold games?

When looking inside case, did you check that all the cables are properly fit into their connectors?
