Hi guys! I have quite a few spare MBAM keys lying around and i figured, "Hey why not give these away?" so i figured I would give these keys away to my favorite community :). Here's how I want this giveaway to work;

You will write about how you acquired your love for computer, what made you love the PC platform in general, etc (doesn't have to be too long, no shorter than 3-4 sentences though, I'll read and count longer entries also)

Have you ever had issues with computer viruses? (Yes or No)

^ If yes, talk about what happened, (where'd you get it from, what kind of virus was it, etc) and talk about how you fixed it.

The winners will be chosen at random, as long as they meet the criteria.

That's about it folks, I'll be giving away keys based on the amount of people that enter! So spread the word, tell your friends (make them join the forum :3 ) and have fun!

This giveaway starts...well now, until Friday May 17th! Being I have to read through all of the entries, please allow me a few days to pick the winners (very busy with varsity track and just school in general)

I loved technology ever since I was a kid. I remember, vaguely, myself playing with watches, which escalated into collecting old cell phones that people threw away. I remember exploring all the different GUIs, and just having a blast with them. This eventually escalated into my love for Flash Drives. I remember holding my first Super Talent USB 3.0 Express drive (When it first came out). From there, my parents asked me if I could help them get a new computer for the family, and I ended up going head first into it. As I was doing research, I stumbled onto Linus' channel, and then it happened; my passion for computers was born. When I first got my brand new system, I remember playing CoD MW2 (can you believe CoD was my first PC game ever?) and I eventually got into the Programming Spectrum. and am currently diving back into Hardware and working on building a new comp this summer. That's it, that is my story.

I remember my sister putting a virus on my parents' computer, and I had to remove it by doing a System Restore (because it was one of those rouge anti-virus applications that take over the Win32 -- kernel of the operating system -- that disabled anything from being opened!).

Anyway, hope my response met the parameters! Hope I win the keys!

Perfect example of an acceptable entry! (You don't need to have had a virus in the past to win, that's just extra interesting info)

I've alway had an interest in computers, and about a year and a half ago I googled "how to build a computer" and found Newegg's videos. I watched all three of them, and started putting together random parts lists and figuring what worked with what. I heard a lot about Linus, and checked out his videos. I watched a lot of them, including his watercooling guide and Phenom II build guide. As of right now, I've moved a PC into a new case, have a Haswell build planned for myself, a friend, and my mom, and will be building an FX-6350 system with another friend. I don't have a lot of experience, but am very confident in my abilities.

I've only dealt with one virus, it was on the computer I'm currently using, a Dell Dimension E521. I got it from my church with a corrupted Windows install and no other files on it. I used DBAN to erase it and then formatted it and installed windows. I upgraded the RAM from 2GB DDR2 to 4GB, threw in a 6670, and added a card reader and an SSD since then. It now has antivirus and hasn't had a virus since.

I started out with love for Consoles at round age 10 ish. I used up almost all of my time playing ps1 and ps2. Later i got the ps3 and i still played a alot more than i should have but less than with the 1&2. During middle school a freind showed me a game called Runescape which i got addicted to and played it  a lot, but still i didn't fall in love with PC's.At some point during my freshman year someone told me to try out WoW and i did (trial only) i loved it and played that game a lot like i did runscape, and still PC's didn't interested me. It wasnt till i got to college that i became more intrested in computers. Because of that i took a computer science course and that was the moment that i fell in love with computers. Since then i set out to learn about computers but the knowledge i decided to learn was not how to  build it was how to buy one that met your needs. It wasnt until recently about 3 months ago that i decided to become a PC gamer and so i learnt how to build one. Here i am now with my 1st ever built pc missing a gpu and a case :) since i want to et verry good deals on them on black friday.

As to your virus question Yes also addware/malware. on my laptop

I cant remember how many or when my 1st one was but i can tell you i got rid of almost all myself. except one that i cant get rid of. when i open a office file it opens a duplicate that replaces the 1st 2 items in the name with ~$. I got this from school I pluged in my usb to a school computer then when I pluged it in to my laptop it gave me a virus that I cleaned but still left me with the damn ~$.

One virus or addware/malware that i got I will never forget. A game called Runes of Magic (F2P) lets or let you get diamonds(ingame money) for free by simply downloading or filling out surveys. I downloaded one thing and it just infected me right away.  It locked me out of everything the only thing it would allow me to do was enter my credit card info to pay to clean my laptop. I figured out using another computer that I could do some tricks to acces the internet and download necessary files to get rid of it. I downloaded Norton, antimalware and 4 other files that name I cant remember but it cleaned my laptop of the infection.

Several other actual viruses (cant remember where from) I cleaned using Norton (trial version, ive never payed for any protection) then I restored my pc to a previous date and time that was not infected. Something I couldn't do with the malware I got from Runes of Magic.

And sad to say I got 1 addware on my new 1st build, I have no freaking idea how it got there I made sure not to download anything that I didn't know. The reason I found it is because my pc was using 1.2 GB RAM doing nothing and it shouldn't be that way at all my laptop has more programs in itand it uses 980 ish MB RAM. So I used antimalware free version it found it got rid of it and now its a 1GB.

I loved computers when I played with them at elementary school. I was the person who solved most of the computer problems that our class had. I realized that playing with computers was so much fun because they did things fast and there were many cool things to do with it. One time I had a virus and when avast was scanning their own files, it detected one of their files as a virus and I couldn't remove it because it was one of their programs that were running. I usually just do a fresh installation of Windows in order to fix any major viruses.
