does anybody have any reason why?

If its an old potato laptop then this is to be expected.

I had an old laptop that needed 5-7 minutes before I could open a web browser after getting into windows desktop screen.

HDD I suppose - or else it's a cretacean potato 😄 !

Swap it for a SSD, will be 4 times faster

Given that everyone else has run the gamut of reasonable responses, I'll submit mine: Demonic Possession. Hosting an entity from the vasty deeps takes a lot of processing power

Cuz it's a potato. What CPU does it have? SSD or HDD for boot drive?

I used to have a potato PC that was really slow like yours.

That poor CPU is 100%. That's probably why it's so slow.

What model laptop is it?

Since it's reporting the boot drive as "SD", it's probably a low end embedded eMMC flash drive. They get the job done, but they're much slower than even a SATA SSD.

It's also a dual core, 6 watt mobile chip from 5 years ago. She ain't got no more ta' give, cap'n!
