So basically i am getting coil whine. Now i checked online and alot of people are talking about coil whine and gpu/psu. Mine sounded like it was coming from the gpu as thats where the whine was at its highest sound. It happens when i play games and is very loud when i play fifa. I removed my 780ti and i played fifa without it on the onboard and there is no coil whine. Now is this a gpu problem or something else? can anyone help me and provide me with any knowledge about this problem. Do i RMA the gpu will it help etc?

From personal experiences with RMAing a PSU with obnoxious coil whine during login and menus in games, it's pointless. You're better off trying to get a refund and buying from another vender.

See, I had a 650w Integra R2 from Fractal with annoying coil whine vs my old PSU it replaced. When I got my RMA'd psu back, I was actually happy for a sec since they seemed to have dumped a 750w unti in by mistake. This happy was short lived as the replacement had the same issue. Eventually going to just avoid Fractal all together and get an XFX Psu later on. The point is, you have a high chance of getting back another card with the same issue. Go buy from another vender, save the annoyance.

is the sound consistent? (last throughout the time you are playing)

does it bother you?

is it super loud?

if it doesn't bother you or if it's only a tiny bit of whine, RMAing may not be worth the hassle imo

I understand but if i remove my gpu and played a game i get no coil whine. With the gpu there is coil whine. Could it still be the psu or will it be the gpu?

I'd still try to get a refund and look for another graphics card elsewhere.

Do the simple ear test and find out where the whine is actually coming from. In my case, I had my old PSU laying around vs what I'm tolerating now and my older one is dead silent with the same hardware vs the Fractal unit. If you have another graphics card laying around, it's worth a shot. But from what you're describing, it does sound like the whining is coming from the graphics card.

I can actually hear the damn thing through my headset so thats the most annoying thing. When i play fifa its super loud anything else its loud but i can just manage. So all i can hear is that old dial up connection sound through my headset while playing games lol.

See the thing is it might be coil wine from the power supply because of the extra load of the GPU. so just try to narrow it down from using your ear

Yeh its kind of hard. When i put my ear near the gpu it sounds louder than putting my ear to the psu. I will try and return and it and see what happens.
