Is this much data usage odd?

Checked the Xfinity app and we are at 1.05 TB of data used out of the 1.2TB we get before we are charged $10 for each 50 gig block we use. Looking thru my routers logs I noticed that last month One iPhone chewed thru 78.8 Gigs of data, a Second iPhone chewed thru 58.9 Gigs of data and my Ipnone ate 31.1 Gigs of data. Is that normal? 

 

Most of the usage seems to be my dad with 400+ Gigs of data used streaming. Wondering if the iPhone data usage is normal or not.

I barely use my phone and I am at 22gb used to far in May.. I ONLY use my phone to listen to music and checking email, I do use Youtube to play my music for the most part so it will count as videos I guess.  But I dont watch content or streams on my phone.

That it, no social media or any other apps.  I'm like a caveman!

I only have a 2GB Plan   Rest is on my WIFI.

Kinda. My Pixel 8 pro says that I've used 81GB in the past month on Wi-Fi. Primarily made up of tiktok, instagram, youtube and play store. And another 10-ish gigabytes from other applications, X, Pixel Tips, Firefox etc.

Not really surprising - outside of things like content ingestion, iPhones typically wait until you're on wifi to do any cloud syncing. 

 

Backups can be fairly large depending on the scale of the libraries involved

Good to know. I'll have to see if I can find a solution. Otherwise the internet bill is going up.

Seems normal. Wife uses 85 gb, my Apple TV is at 300 gb lol I pay for unlimited. I normally run around 2 to 3 TB of data per month. Sometimes over 10 it happens

Yeah but having to pay $10 for each block of 50 gigs we use up to $200 in overage charges is not something we want to do.

That’s why I just pay the $30 more a month because I know we are going over. We started going over when we got an Apple TV. I think my Samsung tv was pulling in 720p and upscaling because we would be sooooooo low is usage. And then with the Apple TV, we actually started streaming in 4k. the 1.2 TB caps goes like butter. 
 

Apparently if you use their modem, you can get unlimited data for free. But it’s $25 plus tax so about the same. I’ve heard mixed things about their modems, and I already paid way too much for mine.

It's bull shit to have to pay $30 a month more. Especially when they do Unlimited on Docsis 4, they do unlimited in the north east. If they can do it there they can do it everywhere. Also it's not free unlimited with gateway. The gateway is $15 a month then they give you unlimited for $10 a month making it $25. We are already paying $69, we are not going up to $99 for 150/40 service. They can take that idea a stick it some where. I keep checking with Verizon on 5G, but they dont offer home internet in the area currently. 

 

 

On a side note I heard they do free unlimited and gateway with Prepaid thru their Now service. It's like 100 Mbps down 20 up, like $30 or $40 a month. The catch is you have to auto pay with debit or credit card. The account holder on our account refuses to give Comcast any financial data, as we pay thru the online bill pay thru the bank directly.

Agreed. It is the equivalent to unlimited texting for $30 a month. That didn't last either, but a ton of people paid for it anyway even though there were articles saying you could send 600,000 SMS for a single minute of phone call time back in the day. That's what happens when there is no competition. They charge whatever they want.
