Hey y'all, I'm looking for a headset that is good, does not have to be epic, and not too harsh on my wallet. I'd say $100 would be my limit. I got on Amazon and checked out the options, and there are so many options. So I figured I'd also ask you guys to somewhat help me with some suggestions.

I'm looking for a headset for gaming and voice communication, not music. I'm not an audiophile and I'm pretty bad when it comes down to sound quality. Example, watching movie trailers or gameplay videos on my iPod with the ear buds and I'm totally going "this sounds awesome". So yeah, I've never invested much into sound, and I figured it's time to buy some decent headphones. I also have a Maximus VI Hero, so I guess its good onboard audio I keep hearing about will finally come in handy?

Also, I am open to using a separate mic like a desktop mic or something like that. So it doesn't have to be a headset/mic deal thingy.

Thanks for reading!

Great suggestions if you want to get a headset

since you are open to it, why not invest in some decent headphones and get a lapel mic like this

http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATR-3350-Omnidirectional-Condenser-Microphone/dp/B002HJ9PTO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1401799881&sr=8-1&keywords=lavalier+mic

and some good headphones?

http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-518-Headphones-Black/dp/B0042A68R8/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1401799943&sr=8-8&keywords=sennheiser+on+ear+558

Not necessarily those exact products but just to give you a rough idea of some good headphones and a good mic, then you can use the headphones out and about

Another good idea if you can get another 50$ is the V Moda Crossfade LPs,

http://www.amazon.com/V-MODA-Crossfade-Over-Ear-Noise-Isolating-Headphone/dp/B003BYRGKY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1401800022&sr=8-1&keywords=vmoda+crossfade

They have a cool mic attatchment to turn it into a headset

Turtle Beach, Sennheiser and Logitech have some good sub $100 headsets. It depends on what you want, there are many options. If you want a wireless Bluetooth headset with digital 7.1 SRS, a built in mic, that looks great and sounds good too check out the Sony Gold Wireless Stereo Headset. It has great reviews, works with PC and costs $90. Not sure if it makes good or any use of the onboard MoBo audio, not that it matters since the headset does all the work.

I own the Logitech G430 and Steelseries Siberia v2. Both of these headsets are under $100.

My vote would be for the Siberia v2. I think it is easily the best headset under $100. Good sound quality, Solid construction, Retractable mic, and the MOST comfortable headset I've worn to date.

honestly id go with the Bose AE2's. i just got them a couple of days ago for 130 USD. they're over the ear headphones with amazing comfort, although the headband may hurt slightly, it doesn't seem noticeable most of time. i could have them on for about 7 hour straight and have no discomfort or pain at all. the sound quality is also quite nice. balanced high's, mid's, and low's, however not a whole ton of bass. after hours of listening to metal with some techno in the mix, i was impressed. the pair is also good for gaming, i was able to play some COD4 on my PC and BF4 on my PS4 just fine with no trouble. the sound production is the only throwing it back, it not super-uber loud but still considered loud enough. the connector is simple just a 3.5 mil. jack so it can be used for almost anything. however, if this isn't a price you're considering and you're not intending to use on the next-gen consoles, you could go with the afterglow AGU.1S. i had then for about 2 years until it split in half. their also very good for music and better for gaming but will hurt ears alot more, mine hurt after about 20 mins. although they are wireless, they have a lot of cords to hook up and are very heavy. hope this helped. this is only my recommendations.

V-modas are not worth $130. That's wayyyy overpriced for those.

OP if you want something simple just get the Kingston headset that was mentioned earlier. If you want something open, look into Pioneer SE-A1000 or Sennheiser HD518. If you want closed, look at CHC Silverados or Shure 440 or Sony MDR 7506. However,, if you don't care too much about sound quality, you can just save a bit of money and go with Superlux headphones. They are super cheap and would probably blow your mind away anyway. As for mic, if you don't get the headset, look into modmic, zalman clip on, or a blue snowball/snowflake for a desktop mic.

Oh yeah for sure! I've been looking into these really carefully, and I will finally be getting one soon, just trying to get a tablet out of the way first. The Kingston is at the top of my list, but I'll also look into your suggestions. Clip on mics do not sound bad at all either. Thanks for the help and info, you just gave me a little bit more to look into lol, and that is not bad at all. :D
