Automated LAN party!

Back during LTX I ran the BYOC servers for halo, tribes etc and turned the software we deployed to get that all to work into Automated LAN Party.  I've been trying to get the VM or installed deployable version to Dan, Jake, Luke or Linus so attendees arrive, browse in their local browser to the local website and can instantly see what servers are running, how to get the games that match those servers, and they just work.  This includes an offline hub for discussion, discord / TeamSpeak link,  general discussion board, tournament bracket system etc.

Exactly what Linus wanted for a "low friction" experience.  We've been running ALP since finishing 1.0 after LTX 2023 at LANfest events as well as Comic Con!  I'd love to show a demo! Details: https://alp.SanDiegoLAN.net

 

The server initially boots and asks for the event’s name, discord URL, and which servers you’d like to run at the event.  Then reboots and renames all the in-game servers to the event’s name and launches them all. Then people who arrive can browse to the intrnet page and you can see how many servers, what game mode and how many players just in chrome/firefox.    I’ve attached a sample of the server tracking page from the intranet site.

Love this, been running this at my local LAN events as well, can't like it enough. @BrianAnim also has a great video on how to manage it and add other games to the setup. Super simple and makes LANs REALLY easy to manage.

The latest version of #ALP Automated LAN Party is live! Both the Hyper-V VM, as well as the batch installer are ready to download for pateron subscribers! The installer will let you install ALP on your own rig without using hyper-v
