Future Proof Aircooler

I know that the only difference between the SE and the EVO is the noise, is there any other reason I should go for the EVO?

The Evo is just my personal preference, mainly because I can run thick fans. Outside of that go with whichever cooler you would like.. I like Thermalright coolers, but there are others..

Im planning on buying an aircooler for my i5-12400f, I also want to keep using it after I upgrade. The issue is, I dont know which air cooler I should choose, some people suggest the peerless assassin 120 se over the phantom spirit 120 se.

I'm also worried if my case and ram have enough clearance, I have a Deepcool CH360 Digital and Corsair Vengeance DDR4 non rgb ram sticks.

In the future I plan to upgrade into an AMD CPU not sure which one but definitely better than my current CPU

My budget is around $30-$40.

Any of those two will be overkill on a 12400F, and clearance will be ok with Vengeance sticks

It's mostly a chunk of metal that'll outlive you, and a couple fans that are cheap to replace ($5 for a TR fan), both will cool with ease any CPU up to 200W, struggle at 250W, and not be good enough above that (OCed 14900KS ...)

Your case supports coolers of that height, from what I can see on the manufacturer's website.

The Phantom Spirit and Peerless Assassin can both raise the fan if necessary, if you can't clear the RAM, but I don't think you'd have a problem with those sticks.

Weird people, on average Phantom is slightly quieter, not enough to notice, but it is quieter, perhaps in a closed case the difference is bit more noticeable.

There's no wrong going either of these coolers.

Because the only thing that can fail is the fans, which then can be replaced, so dual tower cooler, is very good choice.

Big dual tower heatsink and two fans, are more or less able to cool practically everything modern with 16-20 cores or less.

I looked at this video, now im not sure if the $14 difference is worth it or not.

Fans. Both heatsink designs are basically the same in every shape or form.

The Evo is taller, it fits a 120mm fan up front better than the SE does. It also has a center gap that will fit a T30, while you have to spread the shit out of the SE to get a T30 to fit. If you are into stock fans, the fans on the Evo are a lot better than what comes on the SE. I have the SE ARGB as well. And about 9 other Thermalright coolers. And a couple of their AIOs.. and NVME sinks.. and a GPU cooler from back in the day 😄

My case has a clearance of 160mm for the cpu cooler, the EVO has a height of 157mm, is it worth the risk?
