So I have an old pc to today standards and I play cs2 often but it keeps laggin, I've tried to pbo my cpu its kinda better but i wanted to raise the frequency of my ram to 3200 maybe even to 3600, the problem is on the 3200mhz ( ive tried setting the timings manualy to the standard they have on their site)clock kinda works until it gets under load and it keeps giving me bsod's(i have similar problems overclocking everything on my pc including gpu) if i raise the frequency a bit it becomes unstable, Any idea what's the problem?

The problem is that the overclock is unstable at higher frequencies. It is what it is.

You can try to increase voltage on the CPU to overclock it but don't push it too far! Same with the RAM.

Maybe you lost the silicon lottery and got parts that don't overclock well at all.

What GPU do you have? Most if not all GPU's can handle a little bit of overclocking.

idk to be that unlucky to lose both in ram and cpu like especialy on the cpu(r5 3600) im not doing more than max clock that is 4.2 and voltage is already high as it's a ryzen(keeps crashing) as for the gpu its a rx590 from saphire(becomes unstable after 100 more mhz), I'm really tired of trying to do stuff with my pc and it dosen't work.

If it keeps crashing then you either need to bump the voltage even more or thats the max your CPU can do.

Remember that the 4.2Ghz boost clock is for a one or two cores only so getting that on all cores might not be possible for your CPU.

What voltages are you running?

In terms of the RX590, most overclocks I see on youtube are only in the +60 to +80 Mhz on the core and a bit more on the memory.

The RX590 is just a refresh of the RX580 on steroids so its already pushed close to its limits.

Seeing it unstable at more than 100Mhz doesn't surprise me at all.

I dont really know what you want us to do? We can't magically make your components just overclock more than they are capable of.

I mean I am already running 1.45 with base voltage the ryzen could go lower than that but it still crashes even on stock speeds, it should hit 4.2 without me touching any setting but it isn't its getting , in terms of the rx590 I've given up on that long time ago since I had problems with drivers and I'm sorry if I sounded a bit pushy but i'm saving for college so i don t really afford a new pc rn thx tho

Try changing the Global C-State Control option. Some people say that this and disabling PBO fixed the issue for them.

i really do want to overclock the ram too ive seen a radical boost in fps but its not stable

turned off c state and pbo set the cpu to 4.2(tried per ccx and all cores) with voltage offset of +0.204 and i couldn t even boot

this is in the middle of the test it hit a 3.85 constant tho with same voltage as the guy

That 1.469V on CPU VDD though...

i don t think so ,this cpu is really weird

Try, if it doesn't then you won't be able to push it even further.

What's your GPU and at what settings do you play?

Tbh overclocking ain't easy, sure GPU is kinda but ram... Nah it doesn't want to cooperate at all sometimes, same with CPU...

You do need the experience the more you do it the easier it gets, but sometimes parts just don't want to be oc'd... Had a EVGA 1070... The most it could do was like +10hz... (Whereas my 1060 could do 100 easily, my 3070 even does more, with undervolt...)

Vengeance ram... No oc would stick... Bought Gskill bdies, took 30 minutes to oc them to 3600, rock solid since (with different cpus too)

Like really idk if it's worth it unless someone has *fun* tinkering... Me I was curious and wanted to learn, it's not a lot of fun though and unless it's like older hardware not really worth it imo.

I've been trying to suck out a bit more power for 5 years out of this mf and it still dosen t want to do it's job.
