3090 GPU without fans

I have a server im running 2x 3060 12gb and want to upgrade to 2x 3090 24gb. 

 I only have 2 slots available per card and my 3060s just barely fit, which is a problem since the 3090s are 2.5 to 3 slot cards.

 

Since I have servers that run the fans at full speed, will I get sufficient cooling if I remove the fan shroud even though the gpu block fins are perpendicular to the air flow.

 

Work load is i run a game streaming server for my family and LLM, so gpu utilization could vary.

 

Experiments are hard because the server is currently in a data center 12hr drive away,  so im trying to see if this is feasible. Thanks for the help

3090 are not the best card unless properly cooled so ied say no.

I don't think it'll work, you should watercool them rather

Dang, it's the memory I'm after.  I'd get a tesla card but I also want the added value of the game server. 

World some after market high density copper fins zip tired on parallel to air flow be an alternative?

It's in a data center so I cant risk a linus mistake and drip on a 20000$ server below mine.

3090 have vram on the back of the card and they run hot limiting there life. its was a bad card unless you spent the $800 for a duel water block.

 

the 3080ti or 40xx /50xx is better

 

people have added fans and heat sinks to the back but imo its not enough.

you can thow all the air at it but you need surface area too cool so...

It might be possible with high airflow and a beefy cooler with heatsink fins that are parallel to the airflow but probably not if the fins are perpendicular.
