Used WD Red Plus SMART Data

Hi,

I'm about to buy a used WD Red Plus drive but I'm confused with the provided smart data. Would appreciate if anyone here could take a look for me if the drive is ok? I'm abit confused on the worst value of 253 for re calibration tries and seek error rate.

Seems fine. Also if you check power on count and hours it's almost new.

You'll get warnings if bad:

Drive looks okay to me. The funny thing is, the data at the bottom of the CrsytalDiskInfo is all drive-specific information. They are scores, from what I understand, and a "worst" score of 253 does not mean that your drive experienced anything bad at all. It's just the number provided by the drive manufacturer. My general understanding is the threshold value should score lower than the current score. In no cases does this drive's thresholds exceed the current values. The other item is the "raw values," which is in hex values. It would have been nice if the seller could have switched them to decimal so we can easily interpret them. Luckily, zero is zero in hex and decimal systems, so you can see all of the error attributes, like read error rate, reallocated sectors count, seek error rate, etc. are all zero. Which seems to imply that it is a healthy drive according to the SMART information.

The raw value in hex is 0, so it’s probably not even monitored…

I once sold a few 10TB drives I was shufling out of my array. They had a power on count of 25 and 38,000 hours 😛
