So what's the name of the game on the AM5 platform?  Is it just boost the PBO as high as you can or go to exotic cooling?  I haven't really overclocked in ~20 years back when you had complete control of everything going on and it was all static, are those days gone?  I just spent a couple hours trying to learn my way around this AM5 and all I did was make it run hotter and slower than PBO.  Is there some technique I'm missing?

Audio go Brrrrrr

Yep, enable PBO and undervolt with Curve Optimizer. Of course, only if you really wanna tinker. Its pretty common to do this these days, try for a stable -30 all-core in CO.

Old school static OC is available (as you learned in your other thread) but kind of pointless outside a bench setup strictly for benchmarking.

People seem to be having more fun tuning RAM on this platform, at least in the circles I've seen.

Ryzen 7 7800x3D -  Asus RTX4090 TUF OC- Asrock X670E Taichi - 32GB DDR5-6000CL30 - SuperFlower 1000W - Fractal Torrent - Assassin IV - 42" LG C2 - Windows 11 Pro

literally the only fun thing to do on newer platforms with the lack of cpu oc headroom

need a decent enough board for >8000 though so you are either looking at 2dimmers like the b650m hdv x670e gene and basically all the itx boards or you are looking at decent 4dimmers like the x870 tomahawk and some might not even get to 8000
