I've been planning a build for quite a while, and I want it to run Watchdogs. I know it's a badly optimised game, so I'm not expecting a solid 60fps, but I want smooth gameplay.

I have two choices that are within my budget:

1) GTX 760 + i5 4440

OR

2) R9 270 + Xeon 1230 V3 (Equivalent to a 4770)

Which option would you guys choose?

Edit: I know that it's a GameWorks title, meaning that it'll run better on Nvidia cards. Please just reply with what option you would take

The optimisations are more dependant of the GPU you play with! My Fx 8320 has all the cores loaded at around 60% when playing this game and I see almost no fps increase or decrease when overclocking. So get the GTX 760 or even higher if you lower to I3.

At the moment Watchdogs isn't very well optimised for AMD cards, however this should change in the future.

the 760 will give you better frame rates but with a 2gb card you are limited to using the lowest texture setting, 4gb is required for ultra and 3gb for high (the game state 3gb and 2gb but the real usage is much more) nvidia card run,s watch dogs better ATM, AMD will probably have to come out with a new driver to improve cause ATM the r9 290 perform about the same as a 770 and it should not be it's a much stronger card...BTW this game really aint worth building a PC for it, it's not even worth buying if you want my input on it it totaly sucks, they've created a big hype around this game and it looks awesome in the TV publicity and all, but for real even on ultra its really not that good looking, the physics is terrible it's not realistic at all...really i havnt been that disapointed by a game in a long time, here listen to this video, it highlight many flaws in this game, it's ridiculous this game should cost 29.99$, GTA V can rest easy :

Still don't know what card the link shows...I'm in the UK btw

Oh yea then you probably cant get that card for the price. So a 270 and a i5 would be good. Good Price to performance there.well actually, what s=is your budget like for the CPU nad GPU?

Any difference between the i5 and Xeon for this game?

are you interested in just watch dogs or other games as well? and if so what games are you looking to play on this system?

the thing is AMD cards are very agressively priced and you get more performance for your money going AMD atm but they perform worse in watch dogs ATM at least until AMD release new drivers and maybe forever we don't know...

For CPU i would defenetly pick the xeon because it is hyperthreaded and is basicaly a core i7-4770 for much less...watch dogs do make great use of more threads processing, it run 8 heavy line of codes at once on 8 threads capable CPU like the core i7 or FX 8 core...

Any difference between the i5 and Xeon for this game?

No. No. No.

Why? Because the gpu is going to run at 99% on any cpu you can get all you can do is improve your frames is getting a better gpu.

The difference starts to be noticeable when you put 2 500$ cards in SLI and thats way above your budget and the difference between the i5 & xeon is 10% at best with 2 780's. With a single 780 same story above "No. No. No."

You won't need a buff card for an application that depends heavily on graphics card. Watch Dogs is poorly optimized. Even a Titan can't run it past 60fps. Get a mid-semi high end card(GTX 770/ r9 280x), and wait for patch fixes.

Some people say the pirated version is better than the legit one.

AMD is fine for Watchdog's. That said? I5 K is the best gaming chip for the money, even on "8 core games". You will not find a more forgiving site to AMD than GameGPU. The Tom's Hardware is comparing a low clocked I5 Ivy Bridge. Ivy Bridge ain't Haswell and Ivy on a OC would beat a 8350 OC.

SLI.

Xfire.

A site that isn't as AMD friendly (gamegpu benchmarks often go against other sites) and looks to have actually benchmarked driving (where the big dips are).

The AMD is a fine gaming chip for Watchdog's and it's value isn't bad (if you go 8320 and a cheap board). Selling it as better than the I5 for GAMING? No.

Watch dogs runs better on Nvidia cards. But anyway, it's even worse than assassins creed black flag when it comes to optimisation, such a disapointment.

No, there's a new patch out, it came it yesterday optimizing it more.
