Morning guys,

I want to get myself a new gaming pc and put some parts together, It would be awesome if you could take a look at it and tell me what to improve so i get the most out of my money,

And is it even worth it to buy a PC now, or should I wait till Christmas when the new Intel CPUs come out.

My PC so far: https://www.mindfactory.de/shopping_cart.php/basket_action/load_basket_extern/id/c51ff62206e878a368463b1385c8beab6cda13c6af2a37d99b7

Thanks a lot for your answers in advance.

Hi!

The 4670k is a very solid CPU. For gaming, that thing will be sufficient for quite some time.

About the PSU: That is just fine, maybe think about a modular one for better cable management.

One thing you should consider, is that you will not be able to SLI with that motherboard. I am a fan of smaller or small cases. They also sell a Define Mini and you could use that, still  have good airflow, silence (it is just a small R4 Mini) and ATX will not help you with anything, unless you have like a ton of other expansion cards....
And this way you would have a smaller case with basically all the same features.

Thanks for the quick answers.

@Coombzy I could do that i guess. Thanks. :) Any tips? Should I stick with Corsair ones?  P.S. I just looked at the side and the 550 PSUs are more expensive than the 600w one :) so I´ll stick probably stick with the one I got there

@shiftberry I´m not sure about the mobo either. But I dont really want to spend more than 1000 Euros and Gigabyte Mobos are much more expensive. Do you know any good mobo for around 80€ or 110 USD?

@mapegl Yeah a modular would be better, but I dont have so much money as a student and they are usually more expensive. I know that I won´t be able to do SLI with that mobo. But I didn´t find a better one yet. Small cases are nice, specially the mini Define R4, could you please recommend me a mATX mobo? In case that I´ll get the small case.

Well considering, that you are on a budget, I would probably go for the MSI Z87M-G43. MSI's boards are quite solid and this one is actually cheaper than the ATX board you chose.

But the suggested Gigabyte one looks really nice and is only slightly more expensive.

Last suggestion: http://www.mindfactory.de/product_info.php/530-Watt-be-quiet--Pure-Power-L8-CM-Modular-80--Bronze_757838.html

EDIT: Do you have a CPU cooler? You should definitely get one, the stock cooler will not be able to handle much overclocking! I am selling a high-end one right now on ebay, but whether you want mine or not, get a better cooler!

Thanks, but the PSU i got now is 600 Watts and way cheaper :) I don´t know about the cooler. I definetly don´t need a high-end one.If I should get a cooler it would probably be the beQuiet! Dark Rock Adv. C1. But I don´t plan on overclocking right away. So I will probably buy the CPU cooler afterwards if I feel like I need more performance. And the mobo you suggested isn´t bad, but it isn´t capable of SLI either and it got only 2 USB 3.0 ports.

Ok thanks :)

I better ask one more time to be sure. Is right now the right time to buy an entire gaming PC?

Or are there any releases in the near future so my PC will be outdated soon.

take a look at this discussion, it might help you ;)

your pc is massively great atm and will still great even with the newest games' demanding requirements.. i still see C2D E6600 or C2Q Q6600 CPU with a good Geforce/ATi DX10 GPU runs just fine newer games! most of the games work with a dual core CPU but in the future they will need quad core CPU which you have at the moment..   :)

Yeah, and my CPU (a 2500k which has almost the same gaming performance as the CPU you picked) has almost the same performance in games with/ without overclocking, but in the future this will come in handy. Not enough CPU Power? Then just go from 3.4 to 4.5 and you are ready to rumble! Unlocked CPUs are awesome for getting more performance later on.
Also today you can achieve better performance with these CPUs when running a server an playing a game at the same time.

So all I am saying is: You have picked your components really well!

Thanks that you see it like that :) Is 4.5GHz easy to clock with a decent cpu cooler?

Should be. The better your CPU-cooler, the easier the overclock. I try to keep my CPU below 70°C (I think Haswell can run a little hotter) and it helps keeping things stable. I had no experience overclocking till like half a year ago, and now I have done several overclocks, on several mainboards with the i5 2500k. So I would say, yeah it should be possible after some reading and testing.

Your biggest concern should always be the temperatures, and also keep the voltage as low as possible. Higher temperatures might damage your CPU over time and due to the way electricity works, high temperatures lead to instability.

I try not to go over 1.3 on my core. But for that, just hop over to the overclocking section and ask people with the 4670k. There ought to be tons of people with that CPU.

First thing, although I am German, I would always write in English. Many others here are from other countries and it is also bad for you, when they cannot reply. Don't take this the wrong way, just makes the forum better, because everyone can participate.

1.) I also thought about the XEON, it has its advantages, but most games will not have great performance increases due to 8 cores. So.....I guess that's up to you. I would go for an i5 and have better performance/core, although I understand what @thesimon means.

2.) 500 watts is plenty for a high-end system. Don't worry. I actually measured off the wall with my system, GPU and CPU overclocked and got 370watts. Accounting for power loss due to efficiency, there is still headroom.

3.) Get windows 8.There is no big difference, but if you opt for gaming it will actually improve performance, slightly, but it will. And firing up your computer is super fast with an SSD and win 8.

4.) Samsung builds great SSDs and the EVO has been tested to last incredibly long in a consumer environment.

5.) (just saw your new reply) just make sure you ground yourself (Du solltest dich erden!). Have a clean environment and enough space! And watch a video from Linus's build logs. He actually shows really well what to look out for.

EDIT: I have a Single-Rail PSU from BeQuiet, and I would say that is also just a preference thing. It really depends on the overall quality of the PSU. I wouldn't get a budget single-rail PSU though, thesimon is correct when saying, that multi-rail is safer!

1. Yeah I watched Linus video already. I´ll stick with the i5 I suppose, because I havent really heard of the Xeon in consumer PCs before.

2. And ok I´ll get the 500 Watt be Quiet PSU since you all think it´s that great :)

3. I could get Windows 8 but I don´t really like the UI. And I am a pretty satisfied Win 7 user :) And it is more expencive than Windows 7 on Mindfactory or eBay.

4. I am not entirely sure. I know that Samsung makes really great products, but it´s a lot of money i would save there.

The thing with the DVD is for sure :) but I don´t know about the SSD now.
