R9 290 Skyrim help :/

Hello, so i got my new build, 
i5 4670k

R9 290

8gb 1600

and tried to run skyrim on ultra, runs steady at 60 fps but had quite some drops to even 35 fps! (Gaming on a 720p monitor!)
I got the 14.1 amd driver and i don't know seems too low. Benchmarks for the r9 290 on 1080p seem to get 100 MIN fps. 

What could be wrong? Help appreciated.

Skyrim doesn't run at anything higher than 60 FPS. The benchmarks these websites do are stupid. They unlock the frame limiter to project theoretical performance but it completely breaks the game.
You should be getting constant 60 FPS. Maybe you're running 8x MSAA ?

I am using 8x AA indeed, but i dont think it would cause an issue, i should be outperforming this by far even in 720p

8x MSAA is bugged in Skyrim + you can't use MSAA with ENBs so you might as well disable it now.

Temps dont move higher than 55C

Which 290 do you have ? Seems weird my 7970 doesn't break a sweat 60FPS 1920x1080 ultra settings. Try updating to the latest drivers.

Have you tinkered with the ini files? Using any mods, ENBs in particular?
