Hi everyone, I'm new to the forums, but not to Linus. I'm currently building a new computer and I'm holding off buying a new monitor. Heres my set up I'm currently building.

Intel i7 4770k @ 4.2ghz

Gigabyte 780ti GHz @ 1100mhz

Gigabyte GA-Z97X

16GB of Kingston XMP Beast Series @ 2400mhz

Corsair RM 850W PSU

I am wondering if I would be able to run games at 4K, with very high+ settings around 40+ FPS. I was wondering if this would be enough or would 4K on decent settings require a second 780ti?

I was thinking about getting the Asus PB287Q (Which Linus just did a review on)

I would love to hear your opinions and advice

Thanks Jordan

No, 2 780's can handle OK, so no, one ti wouldn't even touch it.

As I get older I get angrier more cynical, meaner. I feel some warning posts coming. I feel a ban coming. I was warned.

You CAN use it perfectly, you just might have to play on medium/low settings in most demanding games.

Not at high settings and not at 40 FPS. You will need at least two 780 Tis and even then the 3GB frame buffer is going to be an issue.
Had you gone for something like two R9 290s which are only $100 more expensive than a single 780 Ti you would've had a much better chance at running 4K with the performance & quality targets you'd set out.

Nope, a single 780ti can't go near 4k unless you play on low/medium settings.

You can run 4K, but you can't expect 60FPS in any demanding game, be ready for 30-40's and drops even below that.

This, except that you will get fps in the 30s in most AAA games such as BF4, Crysis 3, MLL (all maxed out ofc).

I'll be running 4K with a 290 but i won't be playing AAA games yet as i am not of age yet (15 years old when most games such as bf4, crysis 3, etc are 16 or 18+ )

A bit off topic, but do the storekeepers not sell you the game at all as you are "underage" or your parents actually care about this PEGI rating BS?

If i want to buy a game, i must take some of my pocket money from my parents as only they have access to my bank account. They then ask for what it is, and if it is something online they use their credit card to buy it for me. Before that though, they check the age rating. Where i live, if i want to buy a game in a store, i have to show my ID and verify that i am of age. My parents care about the rating and usually rate it themselves, so if say crysis 3 is 16+ in my country they will say that it us 18+ because of the videos they watch. Currently they monitor e everything i do using software so i cannot do anything bad, which i do not. Violent video games actually do increase the violence of the person playing it, depending on the game of course. The most violent game i am allowed to play is minecraft, which is pretty lame.

PS sry for any spelling mistakes, i am on my phone (note 3).

Unlucky, mine used to be like that but they stopped when I was about fourteen.

He can get close to 60fps by dropping settings.

But by that time the texture res would have to be so low 4K would look garbage anyway :(

No OP, you are not ready for 4K.
