Bios flash with cpu RMA?

HayuPhukmiWife

Warranted my CPU with same same and I had a bunch of boot issues that it kinda sorted out. Couple BSOD then booted and seemed good and stable. few tests.

Next am wouldn't POST. Power cycled over and over with no codes. Did a bios EZ flash and then it booted now (currently)

Is a bios reflash required with a new CPU? not an upgrade. same chip (14900kf) I was running the previous ASUS bios that had compensated for the intel issues. HAd to update to the newer one with the 'official' fix.

Feels like this shouldn't have been required. and why did I get one boot then none? anyone? I"m hoping its gonna remain fine, but wondering if anyone had some insight

If you have a BIOS Flashback feature (or one of the 6 other systems with different names, but same functionality) that generally does not even require a CPU to be installed to do a Flash.

As for your CPU Issue:
If you were running a 14900KF previously, you should have been able to run it again just fine.
I'm not sure what would have caused that issue without a lot more info, and more troubleshooting.

Well that's not fun. I thought maybe clearing the CMOS did it.

Same chip to same chip I would have expected no issues. Boot flagged the new cpu and suggested bios settings then windows had issues for a few boots then worked fine. Seemed to be on the OS end.

I figured it sorted itself out with a few boots and recovery.

I'll update after the workday to see what fresh new hell I'm in later

There is also a slight chance that your BIOS became corrupted one way or another and you fixed it when you reflashed. Certainly won't happen often, but this is not zero chance either.

May be a burned out mobo problem which happens with those high end 14th gen chips
